Looking at the concept art they released it looks like the lion king and the cars area will have interior room doors when the mermaid buildings look like the typical "Value" resort rooms/buildings.

Does anyone know if they will be interior or is this their creative license at work?

They designed to the themes of the movies. Cars has a southwestern theme with slight auto influence, they could have went with more of an auto influence but it would have looked like a 10 yo's room.

The doors may be on the opposite side of the building, on the outside, in typical value resort layout.... or this is just creative license in the concept art.

IMHO, inside hallways would eat up a lot of square footage, making the footprints of the buildings themselves larger....

There has been a fair amount of debate about this in the News/Rumors thread when the new pics were released. Some people think that the suites may be set up in shotgun style, where it is pretty much one long room, this would lead to a door at one end, and a window at the other. And the shots with the exterior doors may be the other end viewpoint, or they may be rooms that have been shoehorned into the existing buildings with exterior hallways. And still some others think they may indeed have interior hallways all around. Still open for debate.

I believe the one point that has definitely been established is that the Little Mermaid rooms are using the existing buildings (plus, I think the 3rd as-yet-unbuilt building in that section). Those would be cost-prohibitive to rennovate into any other layout, so those will be the typical Value Resort rooms with normal exterior hallways.

But as you point out, in the not-yet-built suite buildings it's a 50/50 toss-up between interior hallways and long shotgun-style rooms.

weren't we under the impression that they were going to tear down the existing structures? They've been there for years w/o any upkeep. They should be condemned and rebuilt.

Yeah I think they did say they were going to tear down the buildings. Does anyone know if would be cheaper to do an EXTREME cleaning on the existing buildings as opposed to constructing new ones.

Well, even if they knock down what's already built, the footprint and in-ground plumbing is still too set-in-place to alter the layout of those buildings without MAJOR cost.
