Officers Injured in Disneyland Holdup
Tue Jun 18, 5:48 PM ET

PARIS (AP) - Masked robbers crashed a car into a currency exchange office in Disneyland Paris on Tuesday, trading fire with police before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said. At least three officers were injured.

The dramatic afternoon holdup at the American Express office in the theme park, located in Marne-la-Vallee east of the capital, was the latest in a series of robberies of jewelers, armored cars and money exchanges around France.

During the gunfight, one female officer was hit in the leg, police said. Two other officers were being treated for wounds caused by broken glass.

The attackers briefly took two park employees hostage before releasing them unharmed, authorities said.

They then fled in a car, said a spokeswoman for American Express, who refused to say how much money was stolen.

The incident comes on the heels of a rash of holdups around France. While cars are sometimes used to ram windows, rocket launchers also have been used, as in a May 30 attack of an armored delivery truck in the Eure region of western France.

In one recent jewelry heist in Paris, the attackers used a vacuum cleaner to scoop up the goods.

In addition, I found this other story from Reuters:

>>>Robbers ram-raid Euro Disney

PARIS (Reuters) - Four armed men have ram-raided an American Express foreign exchange office at the Disneyland Paris theme park on the outskirts of Paris before escaping, police said.

The four men, armed with assault rifles, used a Mercedes utility vehicle to smash their way into the office on Tuesday. The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby.

"They took some money," an American Express spokeswoman told Reuters, without specifying how much.

She said the office had been staffed at the time of the robbery, but no employees had been injured.

A police spokesman said a policeman was slightly injured by broken glass during the attack.

Last year the theme park, the biggest crowd puller in Europe, drew 12.2 million visitors. The attack at the park is the latest in a series of attempted robberies of foreign exchange offices and jewellers' shops in the Paris region in recent weeks.

I should add that the robbery did not take place inside the park itself, but in the Disney Viliage (their version of Downtown Disney).

You know, the world is going ******* nuts. :(
