Area's within Imagineering

Hello,

First time poster here. You have to start somewhere I suppose.
My question is what are all the different areas within the imagineering group? Is everything lumped under the heading of "Imagineering" such as general maintenance of rides, or fabrication and control of new attractions not covered under aesthetic design?

The reason I am asking this is because I am a degreed mechanical engineer with my EIT and one day hopefully my PE. I, like many of you, would love to work for Disney. However, I am also realistic and know that only the absolutely most talented and very very lucky ones get to do the "real" imagineering of the new attractions... i.e. those who come up with the initial concept ideas. While I would love to do that, I know where I could help the most, and that is with project management, calculations, and fabrication.

So essentially I am looking at the non-glamorous side. It is still within Disney, and you still get the satisfaction of knowing that you are working with something that is making every "child" smile.

So back to my original question, does Disney lump everything under one heading, or would I need to look under a different area?

Thanks for the help.

Good question I don't know but I don't think Imagineering takes care of the rides. They do the intitial installation then turn them over to theme park operations. Imagineering DOES include the aesthetic design as well as the engineering. I would guess there's teams of people of a bunch of different professions on each project.

You're right Imagineering.org does need to be updated, it's a pity, such a cool domain name too.
