Are there policies for this?

Well I am saddend I have to ask this but is there an actual policy for lines and waiting in them? I think 99.99999% of us have always had people cut or tour groups leave one person in line than have the whole group come in. Now im not going after every one since I know there is a person here and there that cut to be with the family which is not a problem in my book. I am reffering to the herds of people that move in. It gets to all of us when we know we have paid out time in line and people just ignore you. What really heats me is when you say something (in a friendly voice) and they get mad?!?!?!

So is there some thing in print about this? I feel like a five year old asking but going to disney is never cheap and always fun, but people only look out for #1.

There was a thread with exactly the same topic of discussion about two weeks ago - please do a search and read everybodys opinions :animwink:

I've seen it in other parks, but not Disney. Canobie Lake Park in NH actually has signs stating you can be removed from the park for line cutting.

I'm not sure about Disney, but another park I frequent has these rules:

No line jumping.
All members of the party have to enter the line at the same time (aka no saving spots)
Tour groups have to have a tour guide at the beginning of the line.
No more that one tour group in line at a time.
No cheering, clapping, chanting, singing, etc...

How much those rules are enforced is another story. :brick:

I don't mind sometimes the occasional young one that has stood in line for close to an hour and needs to potty leaving and coming back with a parent. But, If I see several people cruising through the line, I'll generally get on the oposite side of DH, and DS16 thus blocking their route. I'm generaly a nice person and try not to show myself in front of the kids but there are times when you need to stand up for yourself and your personal space.

My mom and I stand opposite each other in line and lean on the rail behind us while we rest an alternate foot on the lower railing opposite us. This quite effectively blocks the line from someone cutting. We will let the odd person through if it's apparent that they were not in line for a reason but we refuse to let large groups through. We tell them that the rest of their party will have to wait for them to catch up because we've been waiting for _____ minutes and therefore they can to.

I work at a small amusement park with rules about line cutting will get you kicked out of the park and we get the same thing with summer camps. One camper goes on line, then so does the other 30 campers when that one camper makes it to the front of the line. When I see it, I always stop it. Once my boyfriend and I called the park security on a group because the camp counselors will have the kids cut. I would tell this camp they can't do that, so the cutters would leave, but then other kids would then cut with the same counselors. It's like, are you serious? So we got security to come, and put the camp right back on their buses 3 hours before they were suppose to leave. I was happy after that :)

What I have experienced the most is the problems with the tour groups...one person in line and then the rest when they get close. The tour groups from Brazil are the worst! Nothing against them personally, if you have ever been to Brazil you know that is just the way society is there..fast and furious always having to go after what you want and not really thinking about others outside of your group. Driving there is the worst!

I also have often wondered if they are really breaking any hard rules or just the unspoken ones.

Well it's too bad you feel that way, because Disney is already trying to capitalize on the Brazilian influx.

We do the same thing! One of us will say "I'm a FAN of this ride!" and that's our cue to fan out across the queue so no one can get past us! (We'll let one or two who are catching up to a party through, of course, especially those returning from potty breaks!).

If you actually sound authoritative, I find that works pretty well, too.

For example, instead of saying "hey, you cut!", point to the back of the line and say "If you are just joining the line, it ends back there." and then stare pointedly until they comply. Don't be afraid to inform a cast member at the loading area (ie: when it matters), don't be afraid to fan out and cut them off, and don't worry if they get angry. They will get angry, of course, cuz they got caught and no one likes looking like a jerk even if they are a jerk:)

I learned a bit of crowd control during my CP and I find the authoritative tone works best. Don't be friendly, don't be angry, just tell them what's what with everyone looking on.

It helps if everyone is willing to enforce the rules. In the MK bus line for CS at closing time, a family tried to cut in line. When someone challenged them they tried to argue that they had been in line all along. When several more of us joined in they gave up and went shamefully to the back of the line.

I know. I wish they would push it the way of Brazilian "famlies" and not tour groups. I think one of the biggest problem with the tour groups is that it seems most of them are young and on their own.
