Are there parades in Disneyland or California Adventure? If so, how many per day in each park? And is it similar to in Florida, where the best time to go on rides is during the parades?

DL has the Parade of the Stars and it runs twice a day, 4:15 and 8:00 IIRC. I am pretty sure the 2 a day is everyday now that it is summer time. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

DCA has the Disney Electrical Parade which I believe starts at 8:45pm.

Yes, there are less people in lines while parades are running.

Agreed! :) The times may change for the parades, but in the summer there are 2 a day in Disneyland and one in DCA. Also, Fantasmic runs twice a night in Disneyland during the summer, so if you want to go on rides during this time, keep in mind it can be a pain to get through New Orlean's Square and Critter Country - you may want to avoid that area, since Fantasmic doesn't have a seperate amiptheater.

Also, the Electrical parade is WIDELY popular, so get your seats early!
And keep an eye out for the fireworks times! Things tend to come to a stand still during that time (by that time, DCA is usually either closed, or close to closing).

I remember my last visit to Disneyland back in 1989. I didn't care to see the Main Street Electrical Parade, so while my parents (I was 15 at the time) watched the parade, I took off to Tomorrowland and got in quite a few rides of Space Mountain, Star Tours and PeopleMover. I just saw their pics of the parade when we got back from vacation.

Actually, I've found that you really don't have to show up very early for that one, unless you want a seat towards the front of the park. If you go back towards the end of the parade route, you can show up 5 minutes beforehand and get a great spot - at least that's been my experience. :p

Yeah, and Disney's Electrical Parade is just so PERFECT in Paradise Pier--I love it there. With the Paradise Pier lights in the background and the parade in the foreground, it just looks awesome :D

That may be a great strategy! My favorite viewing spot is from the front of the Winery area. It's usually not too crowded and there is always a bench. You're only feet away from the parade and there is nothing seperating you (not even a curb)!

BUt you're right. I was judging from the crowd near the gates. :)
