Are there any issues with being on the Dining Plan when the rest of your group is not

For my upcoming trip I will be touring through the parks with about 8 other family members who are going to be staying offsite. Me and girlfriend will be the only ones staying on property. I have never used the dining plan before so I'm totally confused by how it works. Is it better to just go with my group and not use one? Are there any issues that come from only 1/5 of a group being on the dining plan? We plan on eating all in a group most of the time. Only time we know we won't is for whatever restaurant me and the gf choose for our fancy date night.

You will be fine. Just let the hostess know 2 you are on the dinning plan. You 2 will be charged on a separate order than the rest of your party and they will tell you what you can and can not have. I have taken two trips now where at least one of our group was not on the dinning plan and we never had any problems. You will all sit together they will just put it in as separate orders for paying purposes.

No problem at all. On my last trip with my grandson, I had already purchased a ticket for him when my husband decided to go along. We had a free dining promotion that we used. I just now realized that we probably broke a rule since we booked the trip for two adults and then added the grandson later, although we did tell them we had a child with us upon check in. Anyhoo...all of our meals were separated tickets. We paid for the grandson's meals out of pocket and they just took our meals off of the dining plan. It was no problem.
