AP's & TiW payments

Hello all! I have a unique situation, but I'm sure some of you have experienced this dilemma before (or some variation of it)...so, here it goes:

We are taking a big family trip in Feb. 2014, and there are members in our party who would like to "swap payments;" i.e. we've already paid for their park tickets and flights, but they would like to reimburse us by paying for other things in the trip: our AP's, TiW card, out-of-pocket meals, and experiences for our DD's. I'm fine with that, because I will just take that money that I've been saving to pay off those things and put it toward what we've already paid for for them.

My question is though: can they pay for our AP's, TiW card, and out-of-pocket meals that use the TiW discount via credit card? I'm sure this question would be moot if they paid for those things in cash, but because they want to pay via credit card (and subsequently, get 'points' for said purchases), can this scenario still work even if mine or my DH's name doesn't appear on the presented credit card? "Yes," my entire little family of 4 will be present, and "Yes," my DH and I will be there to present our DVC cards and ID's.

Sorry if this is confusing...but, I cannot seem to find the answers online.

Yes. The easiest way to do all of this will be at one of the ticket windows at the parks or at guest services at DTD.

Sweet! I was planning to get our AP's & TiW card from Guest Relations at DTD anyways...however, can our travel party members still present their credit card and our TiW card to receive the discount?

Technically no. The actual cardholder must be present. However, if the CM does not ask for ID....well you get the picture.

Oops, should've clarified: we will be present at every meal and every purchase...just wondering if we can present our TiW card, with our ID's, and have the other members of our travel party pay for the meal, while receiving the discount?

Technically, no. The TiW terms that the cardholder must be present and the one paying. Never had a problem with this until our most recent trip. I handed the CM my TiW, and my DM tried to pass over her Magic Band, and the CM said that since the card was in my name, I needed to be the one paying.
Quoting from the TiW website,

• Tables in Wonderland memberships are non-transferrable. The Tables in Wonderland member must be in attendance at the meal, present the Tables in Wonderland card, a driver’s license or state ID, and pay for the meal, in order to apply the discount.
• Credit Cards used for payment must match the name on the Tables in Wonderland card and the state identification

• The Tables in Wonderland discount is good for up to 10 people including the member, as long as everyone is on the same check, and the Tables in Wonderland member is paying the bill. If you have the Tables in Wonderland card, and your spouse or partner has the Tables in Wonderland secondary card, together you may cover up to 20 people (including the member and his/her spouse/partner). Both members must live at the same address and be 21 years of age or older.

So it comes down to the CM and how they are enforcing the rules. Using MagicBands might work if you just hand over theirs (and know the PIN of course). Or tell the CM they are all on the same room? Alternatively, they use their CC to buy a Disney Gift card, and top it off with the amount the meal cost, and you use that to pay towards your room charge?

Also good to know! And charging the meal to the room and having them buy a Disney gift card to take care of the bill at the end of our stay is also a great option!! Thank you!

It depends on the restaurant. Some don't ask for IDs or match the credit card to the name on TIW. Some restaurants allow you to pay half the bill with the credit card matching TIW and the other half not matching. But be warned- last month we tried to split the bill between two cards. They would not accept a credit card that didn't match the TIW card. We even spoke to a manager who also denied even though we told him of other restaurants that did. You are taking a chance so be warned.

I guess we lucked out on our trip last November when I bought and used a TiW card for the first time. Boma, Be Our Guest, Le Cellier, Sanaa, Primetime Cafe, Brown Derby and Ohana.

All took the TiW card and allowed a bunch of different payment scenarios: paying with my room charge, paying with someone else's room charge or credit card, splitting between my room charge and another credit card (Le Cellier), splitting between 3 or 4 variations of room charges and credit cards (Ohana).

When we went back in June we again split across two credit cards at Boma and Sci-Fi, and 5+ cards for a party of 7 at Ohana.

I've also used TiW at places like Tune-In Lounge, the Sanaa lounge and Rose & Crown when the credit card being used wasn't mine.

In the instances where we had multiple payments, they couldn't split the bill up into separate checks, but we were able to hand them multiple cards with instructions on how much to put on each. (Which actually turned out easy at Ohana, since everyone got two alcoholic drinks, so it was just figuring out what the per-person cost was)

This has been our experience as well. I often travel with a decent size group and we have never run into an issue when we use person X's TiWL card and person Y and Z pay.
