April Visit to WDW

Hello everyone. Although I am new to the BB I have read WDWMAGIC for a few years and am now happy to actually post and discuss with everyone here.

I have been to WDW about a dozen times but never in April. Can anyone tell me what to expect on weather and how busy the parks will be? We are going the very last week of April. One time I went in February and it turned out to be some cheerleading tournament so we were surrounded by hundreds of cheering and screaming teens in line for all the rides. GOD HELP US!

Also, is there some nice romantic place someone can suggest that is off the beaten path... someplace different than the regular mainstream? Although I have been to WDW a few times, this is the first time my wife and I are going just the two of us.

Thanks!

Weather is very pleasant.

Average Temp is 72
Highs of 85, Lows of 60.
Low Rainfall of 6 days per month.

In terms of crowds it will be very busy. Around Easter is one of the busiest periods of the year, along with New Year and July 4. Be prepared for long lines and long opening hours. :)

Have a great trip!

:brick: Not long lines! I went once when it was so busy that there was even a big line for "A Small World". Hopefully it will not be too bad during the last week of April? We also want to go to Blizzard Beach so it sounds like the weather will cooperate.

We go the last week in April almost every year (unfortunately we missed last year) and will be there again this April from the 20th to the 30th. As for the weather, usually it is in the 80's during the day and 70's in the evening. The crowds we have found to be quite moderate with not very long waits for most rides. Of course rides like Space and Splash Mountain always seem to be busy. Fastpasses were usually about 1 hour.

We have gone in April numerous times - the weather is almost always really beautiful/perfect so in that respect you should enjoy yourself, but yes, the crowds do definitely pick up around that time. Easter time is obviously the most crowded, but there are a decent amount of families on spring break before and after Easter too.

Of course, since we almost exclusively went in April for years, I just got used to there being big crowds and NOW when I go at other times, it's like, "whoa, there ISN'T a line for Small World?"
Though even with the crowds, I can safely say that we almost always got on to everything we wanted to see, you just need to be a little bit more careful in planning what to see when and making sure you get FastPasses, etc. if the crowds are larger than you are used to.

April - the week before Easter and the week afterwards are busy - but to offset the large crowds are longer opening hours, we had two Spectromagic parades per night and two Fantasmic shows on some days last year (we went April 9 - 23rd. Easter Sunday was the 16th)

I am not sure there would ever be a time I wouldn't enjoy Disney, but we are excited about April! I am glad the weather is warm. If I can't go to BB I will die.

I am going to be there for Easter!:sohappy: We are going from the 8-15th. We usually go April vacation and it is crowded but that's half the fun and the parks are open later so you have more time to capture all that magic!! I can not wait. We are taking my youngest nephew with us and he hasn't been since he was 3 yrs old so it will all be new to him!!:sohappy: :sohappy:

We will be there too!

We will also be there in April (4/25-4/30)....

We try to go every other year, but it is always in July. This will be our first time in April and with just the two of us....We are very excited! :D

We are also looking for a romantic restaraunt within WDW to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. Any suggestions??
:lookaroun

This will also be the first time staying off site (ONLY due to the cost this year - that stinks!!) I have a funny feeling that it just won't be the same....:(

April...

We always go in April. I love the weather then. The crowds were heavy, but I don't think it's all that bad.

If you plan your day right, it wil be ok.

while on this topic..

does anyone know what crowds are like in late march?? [march 19th to be specific] -thanks guys.

to nashvillemouse: just recently we discovered a fantastic/romantic place to stay.. at the boardwalk hotel, ask for one of the garden suites i believe they were called.. anyway, you get your own little entrance, through a white picket fennce, and through your own personal nicely manicured front yard, and it's as if having your very own little home at disney.. also, you'd b shocked at the serenity; knowing the hustle and bustle of the boadwalk is just on the other side of the hotel, however on your side you're surrounded by beautiful greenery and some peace and quiet. it was exceptional to say the least.. the room was also one of the best ive seen in years!

i really think you'd love it; especially if it's just the 2 of you.

april is a great time to go

despite the crowds in april, its a great time to go. Disney and Universal both strive to open new attractions around this time of the year. This year, Universal will open their mummy ride then. Disney has opened rides in the past around april and will in the future. (soarin, everest)
Also, carousel of progress, wonders of life, and other attractions that are seasonal will be open sine it is a crowded time.
Therefore, April is a great time to go! :p

Wow its sure going to be busy. We have never been there this time of year. We just booked last night. The deluxes had no cheap rooms at the contemp. or poly so we ended up with the govt. discount at the swan. I made all the ps today. I could not get dinner at chef mickey or the fantasmic pkg. at hollywood and vine. Oh well. At least we have 1 ps for each day , so we will have 1 good meal a day. We are going april 6 to the 14th.
