Applying for management position

Hi everyone:

I'm currently in school obtaining my bachelor's degree. I started this because I want to work for Disney in the management area. The job I have now is great, but as I get older I see myself not fulfilling my dreams so I'm back in school.

Anyway, is it possible to get hired in at Disney into a management position? I don't only mean at the parks--but even somewhere in the offices in Orlando?

I met someone at the store this weekend and she really discouraged me. She told me that she was in the college program and worked at Blizzard Beach. She said that they never hire people directly into management positions. She said you have to be promoted from within.

All I know is that I can't move to Orlando and start making minimum wage and think I can support myself on that waiting to be promoted to management.

Any info you could give me would be appreciated. I guess if this is true I need to change my current goals and reconsider working for Disney.

Thanks,
Christina

it is true that some cms start in hourly roles than get promoted to mgt however that is not the case for everyone.it really depends on your degree and experience and how bad disney needs that position filled.disney tries very hard to fill salaried roles internally first but does go externally for salaried roles as well.there are stories of cms with phd's driving monorails and there stories of people walking in with mba's and starting at 70 k too-really depends on situation.try disneycareers.com,dcpcareers.com,and monster .com.-there are many salaried management jobs listed and do get filled by outside candidates.another route is going to other units of disney that traditionally hire college grads straight into mgt roles like consumer products.after getting on board there im sure u can do internal transfer to wdw or another disney park. keep in mind there are thousands of cms at wdw alone and if u ask them all there feelings aabout disney u will get thousands of replys that differ.i think for the most part disney cms like thier jobs but every company always has negative employees.i know 3 cms and they all love thier jobs-1 at disneyland in mgt,the other 2 in mgt roles in consumer products and maybe a 4th trying to get on board in a secuity mgt position-GOOD LUCK

Contacting an Imagineer?

Thank you very much for the information. I'm glad someone responded.

Maybe you can help me further--my son is doing a project at school about becoming an Imagineer. He is supposed to interview someone in this position for his report. Is there any way to write to an Imagineer or get in contact with one? Do you have any suggestions on where I can start?

Thank you,
Christina
