Apples and TSA?

Will MCO TSA let me bring home some chocolate covered apples from Candy Cauldron in my carry-on? I read no liquids or gels, but those apples are pricey and I wouldn't want them to take them. I want to bring 4 or 5 if that matters.

I would think, yes . When I put a fruitcake wrapped in tin foil in the carryon and went through TSA x ray it was examined through x ray, I was singled out and TSA held the fruitcake to include touching and smelling it. At that point I was ready to cut a piece and serve it to them.

I travel with homemade cakes and cookies all the time. To avoid having your bag hand inspected, take the apples out of your carry on and put them through the x-ray separately. Otherwise, they pull your bag, make you open it for them, swab the items, etc.

We fly with apples all the time between Florida and Ohio with no problems.

Well hopefully the booze in the fruitcake killed any of their germs from touching it!
