AP/ticket/FD question

Ok, I need my memory refreshed. So, we have a two week vacation booked for December with Free Dining. We were planning on getting APs and dropping down to the required 2 or 3 day tickets for the promo. However, we also have a 1 week trip scheduled for October. Originally, it was meant to be a cheap trip with 2 Halloween parties, with the second one falling on my birthday(19th). Now, I know we can still dip down to the required 2 or 3 days required for the FD promo, but I'm wanting to be exact about the tickets. They'll give us KTTK cards for those required days and we can use those towards next year's AP renewal, correct? Seeing as how we'll be using our AP bands instead of the ones with the promo. Is this correct?

It doesn't matter what band you use. All of your bands read the information on your MDE profile. You'll have to make sure that your tickets are set up to give priority to your AP instead of the 2 or 3 day ticket. You probably need to stop at guest services to do this but it's possible that the front desk at your resort can help you. I'd check there first since guest services lines can be long at times. Although if you'll be going to guest services to activate your AP anyway... two birds, one stone.
Also, keep in mind that there are now expiration dates on some tickets, even if they've never been used for an entry.

Yeah, that expiration stuff is my concern.

The above is correct, though one point about the expiration date is that the *value* of the ticket never expires, just the ticket itself.

The expiration date is just the last date you can use the ticket as-is for admission to the parks. After that date, you'd get the value of the tickets as-purchased but would have to apply them toward a new ticket. But since you're planning on using them for an AP or AP renewal, you're OK.

That's really good to know. It makes the new expiration dates really not that big of a deal, unless someone was hoping to stock up prior to a price increase of course.
