AP renewal timeline question

How far in advance can you renew your AP?

My AP doesn't expire until early Feb, but I am considering the dining plan deal for our December trip. If I did this I need something to do with the credit from my 1 day MYW tickets required for that package - so renewal of AP comes to mind.

I think the renewal cut off is 30 days before your date but there really is no reason to renew early. Your $75 +/- credit for your 1 day ticket will never expire.

But if he is renewing online or over the phone, how would he apply that credit to his purchase? I thought you had to phyically present the ticket at guest services.

Correct, you do need to physically be in guest services to use it but there is also a good bit of a grace period in which to renew an AP after it expires and if there is too much of a gap between your renewal date and your next travel date renewal is not always the best option.

Ah that I did not know! I thought all passes attached to your room key expired unless you buy the no expiration option.

So, I would just keep our room keys with the one day pass on it until I'm ready to buy my next AP then?... and then bring those key cards to guest services whenever I am ready to "upgrade"?

Yes, that is exactly what you do. We got 1 day base tickets as part of a free dining package last December, but since we had AP's we just held on to them until we renewed our AP's in late April. It was nice to get a bit knocked off the AP renewal price. Just don't forget where you put them! :D

As long as you do not use the ticket then that is exactly what you will do.

Don't forget though, that in order to get renewal pricing, you have to renew in that 30 day window.

While that is the official policy it does seem like a gray area as I have had them give me the renewal price as far out as 90 days. Of course for the most par once you pass about 60 days it is better just to get a new AP and get the extra time.
