AP Rate question

So my wife and i stayed at WDW last weekend and while researching our AP rates we came across some interesting items. This was a last minute trip so we started looking at rates the night before. Since this was last minute we figured we would just brave it and stay at a Value Resort. When the rates returned it was $212 for 2 nights in a standard room. If you have booked on Disney's website before you know it also suggests some other hotels. One of the alternate offers was for POR at $255 for 2 nights. needless to say this was an easy decision and we gladly went with POR. We are looking to go again this weekend and its the same thing. My question is do they not discount the value resorts anymore? It's been many years since we have stayed at a value but i remember in the slow season they were roughly 69.00/night. I know an article came out a few months ago stating how the Values were selling very well and the moderates and deluxe not so much. Maybe what im seeing is a result of that... not sure just curious to get al of your thoughts

The values are often discounted at a lower rate than moderates, which are discounted at a lower rate than deluxes, which are sometimes discounted at a lower rate than deluxe villas. The discounts tend to increase in increments of 5 as you move up the levels, but that's not always the case.

As Nick said, the amount of the discounts fluctuate with the different resort levels (and possibly even from one resort to another within a given category). However, discounts are only offered when Disney sees a reason to offer them. If the value resorts were selling well for last weekend, then Disney wouldn't have had a reason to discount them.
