AP questions

Hi All:

I have a question about annual passes. First off please don't yell at me if this has been asked before. I spent 45 minutes searching for posts on AP's and did not find the answers to my questions--not for lack of trying!

#1--are the AP lounges still open? I heard the one in Epcot was closing and the old posts give a date of closure but no one confirmed that it was officially "closed". What about the AK lounge?

#2--What other "perks" should I be aware of at the parks, or other places around the World, for AP holders?

I purchased this pass to get an excellent rate on my room at the Poly, but since I'll probably only make one trip in the year I hope I can use some other perks during this trip.

Thanks,
Christina

When you get your AP you SHOULD receive a "sleeve" to keep it in....the sleeve is a booklet that lists all the current discounts and stuff for AP's. The sleeves are printed each year with the benefits expiring Jan 1st of the following year. If you AP goes on to the next calendar year, you just need to go to any guest relations window at the entrance to the parks and ask for a new one. As for discounts right now....The 2002 sleeve that I have lists the AP hotline (info, reservations, etc), the Mickey Monitor newsletter, Passholder Get-Togethers. 20% off up to 3 friend/family members tickets to Pleasure Island, Disney Quest, and the water parks. Discounts off selected hotel rooms seasonally. 10% off lunch M-F @ resort table svc locations. 10% off lunch @ table svc locations in EPCOT. 10% off @ All-Star Cafe' @ Wide World of Sports. etc etc etc.....there are about 12 more pages of info in the sleeve. If you have and specific questions on the discounts I'd suggest you call GR.

Thank you Skywalker for the link! It says you can "buy" annual passes at the Disney store at the Orlando airport. Do you know if you can take a voucher in there and they will exchange it for an AP? This would save me a big hassle trying to get to Guest Relations at a park before I do my check ins at the Poly. If anyone has any info on this please let me know.

Thanks!

you shouldn't have any trouble at the poly. If you're using your annual pass for a discount you should be able to just show the voucher and you'll be good to go. As far as i know, you don't have to exchange it before checking in, that'd be a pain in the tuckus! Actually, in all the times i've used my annual pass for discounts, they've never even asked to see it on checking in....

Thank you, Cosmo. I won't worry about it then. If they ask to see it I'll show the voucher. I guess I would probably throw a fit if, at that point, they made me go get the voucher validated before they checked me in. We are planning a grocery stop and if my milk spoils while they make me go to Guest Services and turn in the voucher for the actual pass I'm gonna be mad! :fork:

To me, the main perks of the AP are obvious and synergistic.

1. You can go more than once a year...

2. With the discount on hotel rooms, you can afford to go more than once a year....

3. No pressure with regard to using yor days.. ie day of arrival, should we waste our passprt .....

The lounges are nothing great, this is especially true of AK... I went there in June....98degrees and while the rest of Pizzafari was air conditioned, the AP lounge wasn't...and no soda...
