I was going to renew my pass for next year however since I missed the renewal date I have to purchase a new one....If I purchase a pass right now but, I'm unable to get my AP Pass until January of next year would I have to pay a difference if it does go up?

I'm in a similar situation. Ours expired in July and I didn't renew because we aren't planning to return until winter. I'm just curious, why would you buy it now if you aren't going until January? What is the advantage?

Other things I needed to take care of and I wanted to get the biggest part of my payments out of the way...

You'll have a voucher that you can use next year so you can get it now and activate next year if you want. No payment extra if there is an increase. When did your last one expire? They give you a window to renew of 30 days. I've done that before.

Just around the start of February. I was going to renew it when I found out I missed the renewal by 2 days...

Ah you've since missed it for sure. In the future you do have 30 days after so if you find yourself missing it (and it's worth it to renew) you can do it for a short while after. Our renewal was right at a very expensive time of year last year so we moved the renewal date a month and were fine.

Even so, isn't it smarter to let it expire and then get a new one to use for your next trip IF it's going to be several months before your next trip? A renewal starts on the day the original expired, right? A new one starts the day you first activate it. So if you're not returning for a long while after the original expires, even though the renewal is a little less expensive, doesn't it make sense to just start over, and then get in several trips over the new 12 month period?

It totally depends on how you go really which is why I said in my next post "if it is worth it to renew" Sometimes it is worth it and sometimes it isn't worth it. For us the renewal rates are $90 cheaper/person. We will do one trip a year on these at times, but those trips are longer an doing a Park Hopper would be more than the renewal rate. Plus if we decide to add a trip in at the last minute, we can.

We have done the buy one and use it for trips and the not buy one until later on. It all depends on what you do, how you go and what you like. The OP sounds like with a Feb expiration it wasn't really wise to renew anyway.
