AP discount question

I have already booked our trip for early December. We are planning to get AP before we go since we will be there 9 days.

My question is.... once I get the AP's do I call Disney and tell them and will they adjust the rate they have already quoted me and I put a downpayment on?

Can I get a discount after I'm booked?

Thanks!!

yes you can get the discount after your booked you need to call and ask if they have any rooms avaliable with the AP rate but at the time of check in you will need to show your pass

Yep. I bought my pass through Disney's 407# and they sent me a voucher. I was able to show the voucher as proof at checkin.

If you are going to call and change for the AP rate make sure you do it As soon as the Rates come out, as the rooms are limited and usually book up quite fast.

Do they only allocate a certain number of rooms for AP? I did not know that. Why is this? How many rooms is it likely to be? We are considering staying at CS next June, as we will be at the world for 2 weeks, getting an AP will save lots of money, not only on theme park entrance but meals, tours, golf etc and of course room reservations.

Well Disney does not want to give out TOO many discounted rooms, if they did they would loose money!

I originally booked AKL with an AP discount for my trip next week. Then we decided to change to the Contemp, when I called they were completely sold out of any Discount Rooms, but they had plenty of regular rooms. Then I tried the Yacht/Beach, sold out again. Finally the BW had some rooms open

As we are booking everything separately what would you recommend? We are likely to be getting our flights soon, as we are not paying for them, the price is not important, I'd rather have them so I know dates and so on. As soon as I get them, what should I do? We want to stay at the CS, but only if the discount is similar to this years, if not we will be staying at PC. Do I book the 14 nights for CS, and if it is going to be still too expensive with the AP discount, just cancel and move to PC? If I have already booked, will they honour a discount, or will my reservation turn into one of those "allocated rooms?”

I'd recommend reserving with the AP discount as soon as the rates come out, whether you have a pass in hand or not. You just have to have a valid pass when you check in. You can get the AP rate, buy the voucher at your leisure, and activate it when you get there. This way, you lock in the rate. They don't need the AP number or anything else to give you the rate. However, if you don't have the AP when you check in, they will either charge you full rate or give you 24 hours to activate the pass and show them the valid pass in order to keep the rate. Good luck!
