Anyone used Ridemax?

So, my earlier post about Touring Plans being on drugs... Well, it still is. I'm basically fed up. I've been playing with it all evening and it's just useless. Every time I hit "evaluate" instead of "optimize" I get 10000 minute waits (literally). I don't want to do Splash Mountain immediately after breakfast so the "evaluate" button is necessary. I don't usually use a touring plan, but it's my mom's first trip and we only have 6 days (7 days minus one for Uni) so I really want to make sure we get to everything. Anyone have experience with Ridemax? It's obviously more expensive. Is it worth it?

Where is the "fun" if u plan every minute of your day?

I'd say save your money as you are there for 7 days which is plenty of time to see and do everything inside the parks!

Well, I've done it both ways - with and without a plan. I prefer to make a plan and stick to it (loosely). I don't go commando and I have no issues deviating from the plan if there's something else I want to do. I just want a good idea of how the day will go. This is literally a once in a lifetime trip for my mom and I want to make sure we get to everything she wants to do.

Here's how I use Touring Plans:

1) Add all attractions and meals to my itinerary.
2) Hit "evaluate" to get initial times
3) Enter my first round of fastpasses
4) Hit "optimize"
5) Start sliding things around to better suit my wants and needs for the day.
6) Hit "evaluate" again to update the times
7) Rinse and repeat steps 5 and 6 until I'm happy with what I have.

It sounds tedious, but I find this to be what works for me. I've never tried that other site, but IMO the idea of paying more than the Touring Plans price would be a bit excessive, especially since I'm really only using my itinerary for the peace of mind that comes with feeling like I have a list that estimates that I'll be able to do everything I want in the time I have allowed.

Six days should be plenty of time... besides, any of those sites are just using their formula to relay estimates to you. That's all they are is estimates. I have no intention of actually following that plan line for line when I get in the parks... if it works out that way, great; but if not, I'm not going to worry about it. Just knowing it all fit in the "schedule" helps me to relax and know that I'll get to most of the things on that list, if not all of them.

In my experience the best way to get everything in, is to just complete one area at a time. Make your Fastpass+ selections for the day, then work around them. If you have a Fastpass for Space at 3:00, then don't go running to Tomorrowland when you get to the parks. We usually go clockwise starting in Adventureland, and it seems to make the day go much smoother with less running from one side of the park to the other.

I'll go try this now for a different day and see what happens. Fingers crossed! It keeps telling me it won't use my FP+ selections.

Have you tried reaching out to @lentesta or some of the other Touring Plans group directly? They should be able to help nail down any bugs to make sure you get correct data.

I didn't know there were any TP people here! I'll try that :)

It will tell you that it won't use your selections, but if you move those attractions around to put them in the right time slots and then hit "evaluate" again, they will magically be there with the passes.

I used to purchase touring plans but its somewhat useless. I realized that when I stick to a plan (even more so when it has been planned out so much) when something falls apart or not what its supposed to be - I get easily mad. So now I just plan the day by the park(s) I want to visit only. I do not plan out every attraction hour by hour. Instead I know that I should be at the park within an hour of opening (if not earlier) and do the major attraction(s) before it gets crowded. After that, I follow the wait times posted.

Yes, that was one of them. I used the method @cw1982 suggested and was able to get it working. Thanks!

Excellent.

Not to distract from WDWMagic's forums, but for issues and questions with our site, there's an internal chat feature with a bunch of people who know their way around. Probably get a faster response to technical issues there, and the staff monitor conversations regularly.

ETA: Messages are limited there to 255 characters. It's designed more for in-person, in-park simple messages, not forum discussions.

Why not post your tentative plan here and let us have a go at it? I enjoy planning our trip, but also seeing what others have to say. :)

I may post it later tonight. My mom has fibromyalgia and is debating whether to rent a scooter (she never has and seems very hesitant) so I want to make sure the trip is comfortable for her since it's once in a lifetime for her!

Well then this has to be an awesome trip! :) I deal with chronic pain and can sympathize about the scooter debate ... My dad was very reluctant as well (knee surgery a few weeks prior to a trip), but opted to get a scooter and it made the world of a difference. Hope she's able to figure out what's best for her!! Some of the scooter places only need 24 hr notice - so if you get there and she needs one, that might be an option, too.
