The first year we went to WDW, I'm sure we ate in a restaurant called the "Odyssey" between Future World and Mexico; that building is still there, but it hasn't been anything except a great place to find a restroom and/or First Aid since. Anyone have any ideas how Disney could better utilize that chunk of real estate? Seems un-Disney-like to let that much space go to waste!

I ate there too... loved the cheese sauce for burgers! :slurp:

Believe me, that space is not wasted! It is used for special events. It has a full banquet "show-kitchen" that is used for Flower and Garden and Food and Wine Festivals. It is also used as a convention facility, and for cast member events and trainings. It also has a stage there with a sound booth and dressing rooms. ;)

Remember the Odyessy Restaurant? Sure do. It was the first place I ever ate in at Epcot Center in December of 1982. As for what I had to eat, I have absolutely no clue, but if I had to guess, it was probably a burger. There was also a band set up on the stage, scheduled to perform later that day. At the time, the set-up of the restaurant reminded me of the Tomorrowland Terrace. Not in decor, but in it's set-up. I'm surprised it didn't last, as it's location is unbeatable, smack-dab in the middle of the park, but then many restaurants at Disney have been shut down as the crowds that used to inundate one park are now spread out to four. Anyone out there remember the Adventureland Verandah in the Magic Kingdom? Another piece of prime property waiting to be re-developed.

I went to a Mother's Day brunch there a couple of years ago and they made that place look nice. I remember eating there when I was a kid. Sorry to you hamburger fans, but I remember it for its hotdogs.

Yup, I ate there a few times too long long ago in a galaxt far far, wait, no, but I did.

It is a very prime location, on the water. I really think they could do something very cool there, maybe just update the building to be cooler and still use it as a convention type center.

Nope. They served both. I despise hotdogs and had a burger there many times.

We went there on our honeymoon in 1990. They had a character show, and I remember meeting Minnie there. She was wearing a pink dress and I told her that I'd got married the week before and that my dress was pink too!!!

The restrooms that are in there now are gross! I wish they'd do a kind of Test Track Driving Resteraunt and get it occupied. The outside also had stains on it too.

I remember the character breakfast they had there that I went to a LONG time ago. Now, as stated before, it's a nice restroom stop. Other than that, it's kind of a waste of space, they really should do something w/ it
