Anyone know what is supposed to be in the chain-linked area next to loading area?

I have been on a personal obsession to recreate the Tower of Terror Basement elevator entrance area and wish to recreate the equipment contained in the area seen in this photo.
I believe that it is supposed to be either a generator or the elevator motor. Anyone know or any elevator enthusiasts that might know? Thanks.

It's the elevator pulley system...Anytime the elevator starts making noise signals when the next door is opening for the riders to get on depending what side it's coming from
So that would be the motor then if it is connected to pulleys, which I would assume would be connected to the elevator as far as for the ride immersion. (I know in reality there are huge motors actually linked to the actual ride vehicles that either lift, or pull the ride vehicles up and down the shaft)

where are you putting this just curious lol
I have been building a replica of the Tower of Terror Boiler room for 4 yrs in an enclosed patio at my home. The plan is that it will go next to the motorized elevator doors, and intend to make the faux elevator motor have a rotating drive wheel that will move in one direction or the other and spin at a speed reflected by the elevator dial arm in the set. When the elevator car plunges, will have a cold spark machine shoot out sparks from the motor.

Like @Cmdr_Crimson said, its the pulley system with a motor. This page has a lot of info on early elevators with lots of pictures of motors and such. The 1930s section is the most important I think.
Thanks that is exactly what I was hoping to find! The Tower Hotel was supposedly built in the early 1900's since it was founded in 1919, so I would assume the elevator equipment would be from 1919 or before. I just looked at the elevator page linked, and it has a Otis catalogue from 1914 which is PERFECT resource for the equipment I might anticipate the mythical Tower Hotel would use; thanks a million!

Most of the set and some of the props were made by a set company in vegas, that does alot of work for the various shows. All the programming of the controllers done and most of the other props were done by a professional escape room guy (I absolutely LOVE the elevator control panel replica he made) ; I actually did very little of the work.
