Anyone Have Any Home Video's of New and Old Rides?

Hey guys,

I'm curious if anyone brings a video camera on board certain rides/attractions? If so, is it possible we can work out a situation where I, or anyone here who's interested, could get a copy of that ride on video tape that you made?

Mostly, I'd like older rides/attractions. World of Motion, Horizon's, maybe Superstar Television or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, etc. But maybe newer rides, too.

Maybe you have video's of older parades through the Parks (for example, when the Ninja Turtles were big and were in the MGM parade, or Toy Story, etc.

Maybe you have footage of simply walking through the theme parks with the video camera. That would be a great 1st person perspective that I'm sure people here would enjoy.

Is there a way where people can come here and we all share--maybe through a list-- of what we have and when we video taped it at Disney? I also have some footage I took from a few years back on different occasions, so I'm willing to participate.

If you have something slightly embarssing on the tape, don't worry, as you can just edit that out (or not make a copy of that particular scene in the footage) when you dub it for fellow board members here.

But I thought this would be a great way for everyone here who loves Disney to be able to re-live their favorite rides, attractions, parades, restaurants, and just overall atmosphere of Disney theme parks.

Thanks.

Thanks Bamboo, but, are these your personal videos? I'm just asking to see if it would be possible to get some of this stuff dubbed to video?

I only ask because I'm unsure how good the picture quality is over the net, and then trying to burn it onto a CD or video tape. I also ask because I've tried IRC stuff before, and didn't have good luck.

a lot of the ride videos that we have on #disney-central of former attractions are done by a wdwmagic member named RU-42. As far as the quality, most of the videos are encoded as DivX, using a two-pass SBC method. The compression quality is VERY VERY good. As far as getting it copied to VHS, i am not sure what the best way to go would be.

Another option is Ebay. Ive seen people sell home videos of attractions there, but it is a costlier method.

Best of luck!

(and to get an idea of some of the things on disney central, check out This Thread. Start reading from the last page to the first, to see what types of videos have been uploaded.)

All ride videos at #disney-central can be output to VHS and recorded to tape if you have a video card capable of output (like an ATI All-In-Wonder of ATI Radeon with video-out). Many of the gaming cards these days have video-out jacks on them. All you have to do is play the ride video you download in windows media player (or whatever app you use that can play full screen video). Then you have the video outout from the video card into the 'vid-in' on your VCR. Start recording and play back the video fullscreen on your PC. (Don't forget to also plug in the audio from the PC to the VCR)

Unlike trading tapes you won't lose quality on multiple generations this way.. you can just trade out the digital files and everyone can have the best source.

Using Nero to burn as VCD is another method if you want to keep it in a digital form. Most DVD players can play VCD. Also CD media is cheaper than VHS tape (free-after-rebate CDRs versus $1 or so per tape)

But come check us out at #disney-central. I think we had something like 52GB of disney media (audio and video). RU has been doing some neat stuff with multi-camera chots in his videos that I haven't seen anywhere else.

Disney Freak,

Can I have your email address? I'd love to be able to get quite a few copies of these home video's from Disney rides you have.

I'll email you and maybe we can do a trade of home video's if there's anything you are looking for. Either way, I'm interested.

Thanks!

Isn't it easier (since you guys are already online) to come on over to the IRC channel and just grab the ride videos? (rather than sending each other tapes). I'm telling ya.. ALOT of people have contributed and helped build an enormous repository of many ride videos in quality comparable (if not better) than VHS. It's readily available at your fingertips. Just a little tutorial and you'll be downloading in no time.

If you have anything to contribute, please let Popkid, RU42, Bamboo7 or myself know. We can help ya out.

Okay, I'm trying it, but I have a question.

On the FAQ, it tells me to do this in the mIRC options:

004.gif

But when I go to the mIRC options, I don't see this layout. Maybe I have an newer version or something. So, am I still able to receive downloads and all? And how come I'm in the Disney Central chat all by myself? Granted, it's 1:45 am, but am I doing something wrong you think or is everyone just asleep?

I think you didn't join the Newnet IRC network. There's currently 33 people in the channel. Just make sure you choose the Newnet IRC network and we'll see ya! :) If you have a newer Mirc program.. the screenshots may differ some. I am using a program called Invision2.0 to connect to IRC. It adds lots of neat features to the Mirc program (like a file browser for downloading files).

Thanks a lot Disney Jedi. It worked.

But I'm still wondering if I can download, because at this site:

http://www.wdwresorttv.com/irc2.htm

It tells you all the things you will see and what to do to change a few options to be able to be allowed to download files. Maybe I have a newer or updated mIRC download.

So I'm wondering, do I have to actually enable/disable some option to be able to get downloaded files, or am I good to go?
