Hi all,

I’m currently applying for a handful of Finance related positions, and was curious if there was anyone on the boards who might know a little bit about what it’s like working with Disney Finance. Simple questions, like is everyone physically located in the offices across from Downtown Disney, or are there finance folks in each resort, park, etc? What’s the environment like? Is it a large organization?

Any information you feel like sharing would be very much appreciated J<O:p</O:p

Thanks in advance!<O:p</O:p

I had a friend who did an internship with finance... and she was located at the Grand Floridian. That's about all I can tell you though... don't really know much more.

I have a friend who is a financial analyst for the company. His office is in Team Disney (Across from Downtown Disney)... i'll ask him for details about the rest if he's willing to talk :)

I used to work with (not in, but with) finance at DTD,and have a friend working with TWDC finance in NYC. What kind of things were you wanting to know?

The main thing i am trying to find out is what it is like on the corporate side. I have read on these forums that the hourly side is relatively low-paying and subject to layoffs from time to time, how stable is the corporate side of things, especially in the Finance area?

Am considering applying for a position within that area (currently live out of state), and am wondering if the job and the Orlando area would be worth considering moving a family of 5.

Any input to this consideration would be greatly appreciated.

Well you won't find anything in The Walt Disney Company for finance in the Orlando Area. Only Walt Disney World. Finance associates for The Walt Disney World Resort are located in orlando, typically at the property they work, at Team Disney, or a few are in Celebration. Most are on the lower portion of the payscale (though they are one of the highest hourly roles). There are also financial analysts, forcasters, and managers (though managers are typically similar to a "Director"-type role). For corporate finance, you'll find offices in New York City, somewhere in Ohio (cleveland maybe?), Chicago, Houston, Burbank, Emmeryville, Anaheim, and another city in California, but I can't remember which one.

Thank you all for the info so far, and MKT, if your friend is willing to “share” I would love to hear from them as well :)

I was curious if anyone knew a little about how long it takes Casting (along with Finance) to work through the applications they receive (days, weeks, months)? I was also interested in hearing a bit about what daily life is like from the finance teams perspective. Are the teams full of Wall Street types focusing solely on the bottom line, or is it an environment where everyone shares a belief in what the company as a whole tries to accomplish?

Thanks again

Hmmm... what led me to ask about finance it that the IT jobs online are posted as being in the finance department. I wonder what that means, if IT is grouped under the finance umbrella or if the positions posted are with the finance teams.

The postings are for Lake Buena Vista, FL, so I'm guessing they are at WDW, but not certain.

Any additional light you might be able to shed? The information so far has been invaluable!

I sent an email to my friend, still waiting to hear back. The friend and their spouse are on a quick vacation, so hopefully I'll hear soon
