OK - I'm off to Disney in September with my girlfriend, her son, and her mother.

My GF's mom has a timeshare at Vistana, which is about 5 minutes from Disney. We could have stayed there for the week for free, but I was stubborn and wanted to stay "on site". So, it cost us an extra $700 for 3 nights at All Star Movies and 5 nightd at Old Key West.

Am I insane for being this stubborn and refusing to give up the whole Disney experience of staying on site?

The $700 is yours to spend as you will. Enjoy it.

Personally I've never spent the cash to stay onsite and have never felt that I missed out on anything. All hotel rooms look the same when asleep :animwink:

Have a great time.:D

If you can leave the kid with the mother and stay with just your girlfriend ON SITE, then it sounds like a brilliant use of $700

I think you're mad :)
But, its your money - just think what you could do with it by spending it in other ways. $700 is an awful lot of money to spend on accomodation when you already have free beds only 5 mins away.

Well, maybe next March when we go, I'll stay at Vistana, and save the extra money for the next trip.

Hey - Not a bad plan. Star at Vistana every Match, and stay on site every September.

And, no, sadly, I really don't have $700 to burn. :( But I can't help it - I love my onsite Disney experience!:sohappy:

I'm with you 100%. The resorts are my favorite part of our trips. I've often thought that the thing I like best about Disney World is the way there is so much to see and do, and I don't have to drive to any of it. It gives me a chance to really relax and not worry about how to get places or fighting traffic etc.

I try to use the above reasons to justify it, but when it really comes down to it, a trip to Disney World without a little box of soap that says: "Is Everybody Neat and Pretty. . . then on with the show!" . . . well that just wouldn't work.

I know exactly what you mean.

Also - I can't imagine waking up every morning to head out to the parks without getting a wake up call from Mickey Mouse.

Or having Disney resort TV.

As for the $700: isn't it roughly $700 dollars more to stay at the Contemporary rather than Pop Century? People don't seem to mind spending that extra $700 for a better experience, and I'd certainly feel that staying on site vs. off is worth more than the difference between Pop Century and the Contemporary (In fact, if they were the same price, I'd still rather stay at Pop Century).

Yes!! It's those kind of little details that really put a smile on my face more than any ride or attraction.:sohappy:

Actually you get resort TV even off of the resort and in surrounding areas.

and the more I watch it the more I think that new girl is such a HOTTIE!
