HI ALL!

I'm taking my first Cruise this April on Disney Cruise Lines.
We're doing the 4day/3day Park/Cruise package and CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Just curious if anyone else is going on a cruise this year?

Also, any tips for a first time cruiser?

Thanks!

How pathetic is this:

Dec. 2004 - WDW for Christmas

2005 - DL for 50th

2007 - WDW (Busch Gardens Tampa)

2010 - Disney Cruise

Of course this can change a little, but... I live for Disney. Unfortunately I can't go as much as I would like.:brick:

Make sure all your paper work is in order, to avoid any delays boarding (ie., id, birth certificate, etc.)

Don't take any beach towels. There are plenty on-board to borrow, plus there are real cool ones to buy.

Do pick-up some goggles, snorkel and swim fins. You'll really want them for use at Castway Cay. Buy a disposable underwater camera, you'll use it at Castaway as well.

Do bring your resort mug, you can use it on-board and at Castaway Cay. The ones on board are really expensive.

Bring a boatload of film. There is alot to take pictures of.

Don't forget the Dramamine. The ship doesn't sway much, just enough that you may feel it.

Most importantly, leave all your cares behind and have a great time.:sohappy: :sohappy:

My wife got a bit seasick on our second cruise (the Wonder) and they sold these wristbands with a small plastic bead on it. She tried it and it really helped. Best part was she didn't get drowsy or have any other side effects.

My only other piece of advice is not to expect too much from Nassau. We stayed on the boat for our first cruise (only a 3 day) and explored the ship. It was GREAT!!! The second time we explored Nassau. I've seen enough and we'll explore the ship again next time.

You'll have a great time no matter what!!!! :sohappy:

We went on a cruise in 2000 and are now going back again in March and bringing friends. We are also doing 4daypark, 3 day boat, again. :sohappy:

I agree with the Nassau comment, it was not worth it and wish we would have left the kids on board in clubs. This time we are going to do the shore excursion to Paradise Island. We heard everyone talking about how beautiful it was, and that just made us more disappointed in our choice of seeing the sights in Nassau.

We had a great time and never had to cart our luggage. What a relief with a two year old and a five year old. Now we are going back, when the two year old is five, so he can "Remember the Magic (Wonder)!"

You'll love it and you get to relax a little after touring the parks like mad for four days!

Yup. DW and I are going on the western Caribbean cruise in November. We were going to go last November, but our little daughter showed up and she stole the show. :sohappy:

As for tips, avoid Nassau. It's a dump. Avoid Blue Lagoon. It's a dump. I can't speak for Paradise Island. I think DW and I would stay on ship again if we had another Nassau stop.

On the other hand, Castaway Cay is wonderful. If you and/or your SO like massages, you might want to try to sign up for a massage in an open air cabanna at the adults only beach (cannot remember the name right now). They even have double table cabannas if you both want a massage.

Speaking of massages, DW loved the spa on ship. Save your duckies though; it's expensive. Oh, the Surial (sp?) Bath is one really nice spa thing you can both do. Fun and messy and not even very expensive.

Go to Palo's. If you have to, skip dinner at Parrot Cay to go.

That's all I can think of right now. Oh, I have some pics here:

Hope you have a good time.

Are you going on a small boat or big boat cruise? I've always wanted to do an Alaskan Cruise, preferably on a small boat because they're able to go up into places the big boats can't reach. Its gonna have to wait a while because those suckers are expensive, especially for a single person (anyone else out there notice how unfriendly cruises are to single travelers?).

Still haven't done the Disney cruise yet either. Been dying to try one though.

Paradise Island is very nice, but it takes a while to get there and back. Plus while you can do a tour, it is still just a casino with a cool aquarium. It's worth going once (better than the rest of Nassau), but I'm in no hurry to see it again.

The adult beach is called Serenity Bay if I recall...

I would go to Paradise Island. Very nice to look at. The Atlantis hotel is huge. It does have nice shops, aquarium, cool pools and some neat designs to the hotel.:) Touring the boat is also a good alternative. Ditto about Nassau.:(

17 days and counting...:sohappy:

Just got and booked again

We spent Christmas aboard the Magic and had a great time. We wanted to book next year as well but all cat. have sold out for that week so we are heading out over New Years on the Wonder. The 7 day made a big diff. then the 4 day for us as we felt we actually had nice ship time even with shore trips. You will have a blast!!!!!

Well, maybe I will get off my butt here and write a review of my trip. It was great, no complaints really (Although they took the whole food handling safety thing to a whole new level of retentivity, but I understand why)

Just a few pictures to whet your perspective whistles...

I have to ditto the remarks about Nassau. I will stay on the ship next trip on the Wonder.

Myself and eight other members of my family are headed out on the Magic in June for the Western Carribean cruise. I'm so excited. Just a little over three months....

TIPS:

Bring an extension cord. There is only one outlet at the vanity. Hair dryers will not work in the bathroom and the hair dryer provided doesn't have much force.

Check and double check that you have id and birth certificate (or passport) before leaving home.

Do not miss Disney Dreams (the best show on the ship). It's amazing!!

Make sure to be on deck 9 or 10 during the sail away party to hear the ship's whistle when leaving Port Canaveral.

Head out early on Castaway Cay day as the good spots on the beach go quickly.

Don't miss the deck party the night the ship is leaving Nassau.

FILM! FILM! FILM!

If you do skip a restaurant in your dining rotation to go to Palo, don't skip Animator's Palatte (sp?). Beautiful!!!

Most importantly....relax and have a great trip!! Say hello to Mickey for me!
