I have waited since last May to nab Fastpasses for the 7dmt and I finally got them...HOWEVER, today I was just innocently checking wait times from my hotel and saw the mine train is temporarily closed! What's going on? What do we do now? Will they issues us a new fastpass? We're not going to MK until later this evening--is it at all possible that it might be up and running again by then? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Rides go down temporarily sometimes for a multitude of reasons. That reason would dictate how quickly it is up and running. I wouldn't flip out about it just yet. Whether you can get new fastpasses or not on this new system I don't know.

Sounds like you're kind of panicking. Happens all the time...nothing to see here.

Don't worry, it's probably already back online.

We had the same situation a few weeks ago. If you have a FP they should send you an email with the option for other attractions or the 7DMR anytime till park closing provided it is functional.

It happened to us today. It broke down. We had fastpass for it. The fastpass could be used for any other attraction or use it for mine train for 12:50pm to 12am. So we can use it anytime today.

My experience has been that if the ride is unavailable during your fast pass window, you will be allowed to ride at anytime that day, once it reopens. However, if the ride is down for a period of time, say for several hours, expect the fast pass line to be very long once the ride is back up and running, since everyone who missed their window will be back to ride. And the fast pass line for 7 Dwarfs is long anyway, compared to other rides.

It was down for 2-3 hours Thursday evening too.
The coaster reopened once the Halloween party started but the lines never dipped below 45 minutes, all the way up to park closure at midnight, and that's with no FPs being used.

Is anyone privy to the reason(s) for these closures. Is it just shakedown issues, ghosts in the machine or systemic issues? Just seems like a lot of breakdowns for such a new ride.

Same thing for the first night of MNSSHP. Even though the attendance, according to a CM I spoke with leaving the park, was half of the available tickets, the ride wait was 45 minutes. And that was at 11:00PM. And the day I rode with a FP+, the line for FP had a wait time of nearly 30 minutes. When I walked up, I first thought it was the standby line, it was that long since the standby line snakes around.

All of the above? And if a storm is coming, they will shut down the ride. I was in the FP line hoping that I would make it on the ride before the storm hit. As we left the loading area, it started to sprinkle and then by the time the ride finished, it was raining and the ride was shut down.

Here's the breakdown (pun semi-intended) on how ride closures work with FP+:

When a ride shuts down, the on-site Lead will tell the FP+ system how long the closure is expected. (Is it just a cascade E-stop that they know takes 15 minutes to reset? Is it closed for a thunderstorm that will last 90 minutes?) They can also extend the closure in the FP+ system as needed.

Anyone with a FP+ reservation that falls within that time fame and has a MDE account will get an automated email alerting you to the closure. If you have your smartphone with you, this email could save you the trip to the attraction just to find it's closed. (If you don't have an MDE account and made your FP+ choice same-day at a kiosk, you won't know of the closure until you get to the ride)

Your FP+ then becomes a "wildcard" FP+. It can be used on that attraction anytime that day after it reopens. You can also use it at most other FP+ attractions in the park, though it may not be for all attractions. (When FP+ first rolled out it was all attractions except the other attractions you'd already chosen as your other two FP+ that day, though I'm not sure if those rules have changed since then) The email message will give you a list of what alternate attractions you can use it for, though it's limited to the same park as the original FP+. You can't use the wildcard to park-hop.

To use the wildcard FP+ there's no need to do anything. Just walk up to the FP+ post at the attraction and scan your Band/card.

If the ride closure happens within a certain amount of time before park closure (2 hours or so, I think) the wildcard will also be good the following day, and is good in any park.

Lastly, if you've used your FP+ to enter the queue and you've proceeded in line beyond the FP/Standby merge point when the ride closes, that's when they give out the paper tickets, since the FP+ selection is marked as "redeemed" once you can your Band/card at the Merge-point FP+ post.

We were on the ride this day when it stopped. We were evacuated and given an additional paper FP+.

Was nice to ride it twice in the same day both on FP+! :D

Our car was at the last platform before the ride would have turned into the loading/unloading tunnel. So basically we rode the whole thing till the very end the first time. Was a nice 5-10min wait in the sunshine until they manually let us out.
