Any recent word on Maelstrom?

Ok, so lots of rumors have been going around saying that Maelstrom is on the way out and is apparently going to get replaced by Frozen stuff. But the whole thing's gone quiet this past week or so. Any word on if and when it will be closing? We leave for Disney World on Saturday and are staying until that next Tuesday, so I think it should still be open when we are there. Thanks for any information you can give me!

I am an AP. I can only tell you what I am able to book via MDE. As of 10/1, Maelstrom is on stand-by.

Pretty bummed that we are getting there just after it closes (our trip is 10/9-10/14). Would have loved to have one more ride on it. Sure it's cheesy and outdated, but I still love it!

Thread started yesterday because the other Maelstrom thread got derailed.... this only took a few hours

I too am curious as to timing as I enjoy going on Maelstrom (hope to do it in December but it would not ruin my trip if it is closed for a refurb). I am not a diehard fan of Frozen. It was okay, the music was catchy, but I have only seen it once and that was enough. I would remain happy if the cast of Frozen taught Norwegian culture and not completely changed it to "where is Olaf?" (sorry for the slight derail)

Staying on topic, I have not heard anything recent, nor would I unless I read it here

Yea they are going to slap some snow in it and call it a frozen attraction with expensive low quality merchandise outside in what used to be a unique gift shop and some ridiculous meet and greet that has nothing to do with anything in Norway and just is going to be jammed in there to make Epcot more appealing to 8 year old girls who are expected to be nothing but wannabe princesses and not want to learn anything about anything.
