I read in a magazine several months ago that Disney was going to film The Lion..... for 2005 release. The article also said that they had the rights to the entire Narnia series.

Does anyone have any more information ? The article didn't have any specifics, but didn't mention animation so I assume it will be live action.

I love the idea of Disney producing this classic book series, and am really curious for more details.

Disney is co-producing the Narnia series with Walden Media. It's release date I heard was around Dec. 7th, 2005 before King Kong. This movie is a Disney "Tent Pole" and I think costing them around 175 Million to make. They have the Sherk Director on board and WETA the company that did lord of the rings is doing speical effects. Disney really wants this to be the next Lord of the Rings since they passed that up.....Miramax had the chance to produce it....but it looking good. Comingsoon.net had an article saying the battle scene will be filmed soon. so hopefully we will see a trailer soon? I think Star Wars III would be a good time to release a trailer, a very wide audience.

Not a good time to release a high-budget Disney film....Kong is going to rule over the box office a week later. It's going to be BIG.

I feel that Narnia will rule over King Kong. Narnia has a large fan base and will be played up big in the upcoming months. I think this will be Disney Lord of the Rings.

I think Narnia may very well be the next LotR, Kong will fail the same way all the other monster-remakes have.

Even though it is being created by Peter Jackson, the same guy who directed the LotR trilogy?

This one isn't going to be a present-time film like the Godzilla remake had been....this is set back in the time that the original took place in. IMO, it's going to be great.

Just because Peter Jackson is filming it doesn't mean it's going to be great.....It'll probably do well because of that, but that doesn't mean much.
