Are there any being considered for either park at the moment? I heard that BTTF was closing  but have heard nothing about it for a while. I'm heading over there in xmas 07 so I was thinking that have something new in place by then.

There's an ongoing rumor about something else coming into Jurassic Park, but that rumors been around so long who knows if it has any real legs or not.

Something is happening at BTTF. The rumor is that they're having a hard time getting all the rights to the Simpsons to put that in, but we'll either get something new there or a refurbed BTTF in the end.

Also The Blue Man Group is going to open up to compete with Cirque Du Soleil next summer at Citywalk.

I hope back to the future doesn't close. I've not been to Orlando yet (2007 I'm going) and friends have said this is one of the best rides. :( I hope it stays open a little while longer yet.

I don't think it's even a good ride anymore. It bangs you around so much that almost everybody gets off a little sick or sore, especially if you're in the backseat. And the film for it is so out of date and beat up that it's not particularly grand anymore. Now I'd probably prefer for it to just go through a major refurb, keeping the BTTF theme but getting a new story and film, and some work on the deloreans. I'd like that much better than a silly simpsons ride. But you're not missing too much with this particular ride.

I actually liked BTTF, I must have gotten very lucky rides with everything working.

As far as I know the only new thing for now will be Blue Man Group, though I would not try to compare it to Cirque due to they are totally diffrerent types of shows.

Back to the Future is being replaced by the Simpsons, with an official announcement coming soon.

Blue Man Group has been announced for the former Nickeloden Studios.

A new attraction (I have a code name, but won't tell) is in development as well. I don't know any details other than the name... so...

Isn't it odd that, after being on tv for about 17 years, a Simpsons ride is just now coming to be just as the series is ending? I can see it coinciding with the release of the Simpsons Movie next year, and I am sure the show has garnered enough of a dedicated fan base to last long after the series ends, but I just think that there were plenty of missed opportunities for a Simpsons attraction to come about during the prime years of the series.

Correct and Universal tried to get the rights to do a ride and even an entire land at IOA on it before. It's only now that they're being amicable to releasing the rights to a theme park.

Because they know the license is beginning to die...

I've heard that if Universal ever did decide to take away Back to the Future, they would replace the simulator, and put in a BTTF roller coaster that would go 88 MPH. But, it could have only been a rumor. ;)

Yea I heard it was a cross between Revenge of the Mummy, Rock'N'Roller Coaster (soundtrack by Huey Lewis and the News), and Spider-Man in which some of the show parts are in 3D and some are animatronic! :p 88MPH accelerated launch and a few backwards sections... Should be cool!

I will certainly miss the BTTF property in the park. Because it was a filmed attraction that automatically put a time limit on it, but it is very odd for a theme park to replace the attraction that most people think of when they think of a Universal Studios park.

Too bad IOA couldn't get a decent attraction before USF got ANOTHER new addition.

So, is BttF still open?

Yes. I went two days ago and it had the longest line in the park - 75 mins, beating out The Mummy by a whole 25 mins.

BTTF was packed the whole day. Some guy told me they're replaced it with The Fast and The Furious and than they're making a King Kong roller coaster somewhere else. I honestly didn't believe him, but the KK part would be great.
