Any info on slinky dog.

A lot of Disney news sites, including Disney Parks Blog and this very site here, posted a short video showing the ride, some of it from a distance and some of it from rider's point of view. I hope the ride is longer than the video--that was less than half a minute.

It was 37 seconds from the begining of the brake at the second launch to the end. So, it's much longer than half a minute.

I saw on DSNY Newscast that the top speed would be 32 MPH (equal to 7DMT) but faster than Space Mountain which surprisingly only reaches a top speed of 28 MPH. The ride time is a reported 90 seconds.

7DMT is approx 3 minutes
....and has one sizable indoor show scene and another lesser outdoor show scene at the end.

The two are not 'apple-to-apple' comparable.

Slinky has two launchers. Most other coasters have lifts which eat up a lot of time. The 'falling' time for Slinky will be pretty comparable to other coasters if you discount their lift times.

Even if the weight distribution doesn't make it fall back during launch...Would that be an issue?

I would think that anything you ever needed to know and massive amounts of incorrect speculation and detail that is probably useless can be found in this thread.

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads...nounced-for-disneys-hollywood-studios.903114/

It's almost 600 pages long, but, it really is no different then reading War and Peace, but, on the bright side there will be no quiz at the end and almost no one is going to stand in front of the class and ask... What did the author really mean when he said ........... ?

Oh, sort of a short thrill ride, no story or such during the ride. hmm, like you can get at a Cedar Point or carnival. Not what made Disney great. Also, I cant imagine waiting in line for an hour or two and than bam, sixty seconds and done.

Did it need to be built inside a warehouse or into a mountain for it to be Disney great?

To answer your rhetorical question:
"Yes"((mostly))
Aside from Kilamenjaro Safari and perhaps Jungle Cruise in Hong Kong there is not one Disney anchoring ride style attraction that is not mountain built and totally exposed to the elements that wows guests in all of its 12 parks.

It looks like you more or less are justifying/defending a 90 second ride by saying other costers are lacking in duration

I don't care if it is "industry standard" or is commensurate with other ride time lengths ----- lousy is, well, still lousy.

This Slinky Dog is all bark and no bite..........

is perfect for a secondary/lesser attraction but approaching shameful for an anchoring/headlining attraction on a hyped up new full and self contained land........I bet it didn't even break the $75 million mark to build.

If you are looking to anchor a new land best spend $150 million or more.

Uhhh.... look again. Giant set design. Placement in its own land. Queue that sets up the story with great detail. Singing animatronic.

Did it need to be built inside a warehouse or into a mountain for it to be Disney great?

No, only for the imagination lacking people that cannot understand that the land is its own story line. Me thinks that someone spends way to much time playing video games inside the house to appreciate something that is outside in the semi fresh air.

Honestly, I don't care how or where or even what an attraction is built of, I just want something more than a quick thrill when I go to Disney, especially when it is your keystone ride for a whole land. The queue can be amazing, and Disney as delivered time and time again on that, where they can fall short is on the actual ride itself. Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Nemo and to a lesser extent The Seven Dwarfs all have amazing queues but the rides are sort of flat.

Very few people that I have ever talked to about Disney rides rarely seem to talk about how awesome their thrill rides are, they talk about the quality and story. I just hope that Disney isn't going away from the story and relaying on quick thrills.

Now Disney has always had a few attractions that were short and sweet, but not there big ticket rides.

Of course this is all just speculation on my end, I am going by what I have seen online and what I have heard. I hope when and if I experience Slinky Dog I am amazed.

But I will say, that I would not wait and hour or more for a 90 second ride. I would wait a max of hour for a ride even as awesome as FoP.
