Does anyone know anything about the status of the annual pass lounges. I know that the one in the Land was taken over by Nestle but what about the one in Animal Kingdom? Has anyone heard anything or can someone find out if they will be open this summer?

The Last Report I got was that the AP lounges were all closed.

From what I understand..they were only open for a trial period.

I guess Disney Decided not to keep them open.:(

I think if Disney was smart, they would build a separate building just for Annual Passholders that would include a lounge and restrooms.

This would arrouse the curiosity and jealosy in non Annual Passholders and persuade them to buy Annual Passes just so they would not be left out..

In all fairness to Disney this may very well not be the end of the lounges. The economy in the Orlando area (much like the rest of the country) has been in a slump that it only now starting to crawl out of. More than any of the other parks in Florida, Disney relies on tourist dollars and since fewer of those tourists have been showing up over the last year or so, profits for the parks have gone down…

Every time I went to one of the lounges there were always two to three cast members staffing them and quite frankly, even though it is a benefit to Disney’s most loyal customers (the ones that are most likely to keep coming when everyone else isn’t) it is an expense that is hard to justify on a balance sheet since it does almost nothing to make up for the profits that the parks aren’t getting…

Hopefully they will be back. Actually, even if they were to only bring them back seasonally at the busiest times of the year as a place to get away from crowds and such, I think it would be pretty cool.
