Any incentives for touring?

Visiting in about 3 weeks. Do they offer any incentives for visiting? Free meals or anything like other timeshares?

I've heard tales of free fastpasses and such - you'll have to ask at any one of the many, many DVC kiosks in every resort, park, and public area!

We did have access to any non-alcoholic beverage of our chase and pastries in the lobby while we waited for a guide to greet us for our tour. However, it's a very low-key presentation so they're not out to schmooze you. Even though we purchased on the spot, we simply got a free ice cream serving! I don't know if they would have 'splurged' on that had we simply toured and tkaen the information packet with us . . . :)

They do have vans that will pick you up at a park or resort and return you to wherever you want to go after the tour.

Incentives?

The whole point of seperating DVC from the "Timeshare world" is the fact that they do not operate like most others in the time share arena.

The incentive itself is the amazing value and flexibility of being an owner... not because they offer you a free Turkey Leg or a ride in a parachute...

There is no WESTGATE WORLD, or ORANGE LAKE WORLD, or even a MARIOTT WORLD... but there is a Walt Disney World.

Your incentive is to learn about saving money and having amazing travel opportunities by using your membership be it at a Disney owned resort, cruise or 500+ other locations around the world.... not if you get something for your time.

What is your time worth?

Here's a question for you... Would you rather rent or own?

If you are on the WDW Magic site... you probably feel strongly enough about your WDW vacations or any vacation for that matter to actually learn about it. and see the amazing opportunity. It is a customized tour for each individual... you take what you want from the presentation... it is not for everyone, but it does not cost a thing to learn about or be treated special by the cast members and the feeling of being an owner and part of the WDW family.

Why would you want to see what you can get out of it? Why would WDW cater to someone such as yourself who would only be interested in immediate material gain?

shame... This is Vacation Ownership... Not Timeshare... no matter how you look at it, it is the Disney name, Heritage, and Disney Difference, that you own... not a cheap, two bit, lame excuse for vacation "restrictions" that offer cash or free _______ because of sales quotas.

DVC since its inception, has gone out of the way to raise the standards of this "product".

If you are looking for a chaep easy fix or handout, I only have 5 words for you...

ONLY INTERESTED PARTIES NEED APPLY

So if you are interested, see a Sales Associate on property in the resorts or parks and find out what the best kept Dsiney secret is... because I will tell you something... its not what they give you for taking an hour out of your life to learn about Disney's Vacation Club.

Wow - that's quite an endorsement of the DVC product line. And, as a member, I certainly agree with your appreciation for DVC - but "Only Interested Parties Need Apply." Don't you think that's a bit over the top - and certainly not the DVC's sales approach . . .

While I personally would never take a timeshare tour "for the free stuff" (my vacation time is worth more than the free stuff), DVC does occasionally offer incentives for people to restructure their vacation schedule to include a DVC presentation. I think it was a fair question that doesn't necessarily imply motive.

Just last week - we went to a presentation, after making an appointment with the cm at the Pop Century, and after signing the papers to become members of the DVC - we were treated to ice cream and instant fast passes for all four of us.

Here's the basic idea....

You agree to give up roughly an hour or two of your vacation to take the DVC tour. In return, DVC gives you a couple of instant fastpasses to "make up" for that lost hour of your vacation. (Instead of standing in line at Space Mountain, you sit at the DVC Center).

Ice cream: just a yummy treat as a way of saying thanks. If you're willing to give up two hours of your vacation just so you can get a free single-scoop cup of ice cream, then your priorities are way out of whack. go for the DVC, and enjoy the ice cream as a special treat afterwards.

Other incentives: there are occasionally other incentives for BUYING, not touring. These include occasional "additional down payments" paid by DVC on your lease... for instance, they may take an extra few bucks of each vacation point you buy if you sign that day. These incentives are usually NOT enough to sway you to buy right away, but are a nice thank you if you ARE ready to buy.

We were treated to ice cream and instant fast passes for all my family (4) when we went. You can get some cash discounts off points ($8/AKV or $10/SSR per point) or get double deleloper points (no home resort so the 7 month booking rules apply) if you purchase usually a little less than a week after touring/sales pitch. Great deal ltoo we bought at SSR!!

Another incentive is the nice "gift book" that they give you. It's mostly about the DVC locations but it's a pretty nifty book nonetheless.

We went in June and went on the tour. I recommend doing it some time near the beginning of your trip. Go to one of the many kiosks in the park or hotels adn schedule a tour. They will pick you anywhere on property you want.

We got 15 fastpasses to use at any fastpass rides (reason to do tour early in trip), snack and non-alcoholic drinks during tour, and ice cream after tour. We also received the nice coffe table book. The kids went to a play room with toys and video games while we took the tour. We received all of this without purchasing on the spot. We bought 200 points at AKV when we got home. Since we purchased within 3 days of getting home we also got the purchase incentives.

I recommend taking the tour, there was no pressure at all. In fact our guide said they did not expect us to make a decision that day. Have fun and welcome home!:sohappy:
