Another quick MK update 9.10.12

Original Poster
  • Mine Train Steel continues to rise
  • Trees added near Big Top Souvenirs to block the view towards mermaid
  • Workers were cutting down trees still on the islands of Seven Seas Lagoon
  • Dirt is now being moved and work has begun on the expanded bus area outside MK
  • Tangled Bathroom area work continues
  • There was an emblem added onto the castle wall trim ( not sure what it relates too )
  • Mermaid grass work is just about done
  • Flags have been added to the Storybook Circus entrance signage
  • You can see hooks on the signage as well where they will attach the tarps / posters / cover
  • There is a new Big Top Souvenirs sign on the other side of the tent now, but this one is much less elaborate. Its just a wood sign with no lights or anything, but it does look permanent.

I thought the MK bus loop was expanded last year and hs/ak busses were supposed to drop off there, but that part hasn't happened yet.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is that the Disney family crest on the new wall now? And is that actually scaffolding going on up around SDMT ride? Could that mean they are starting rock work or the outer layers of the ride?

Yes, that is indeed the Disney Family crest/herald. Here's another picture from elsewhere:

Yep. The walls now match the castle (crest wise) if I remember correctly.

Are you looking at this picture? I am not sure if that is the steel for the cottage starting to go up, or if it just scaffolding. Hard to tell at this point.

DJ Kidkaz thanks for these updates. It is great to see these. I am assuming you live nearby. I envy your being able to go the park so often. Do you go mostly to see what has changed or do you routinely go just to go?

Thank you for the pictures. If you compare djkidkaz's more recent Mermaid photo, to the one below (and earlier one), you can see that the "hole" where they took out the windows and put up the waterproofing is increasing in size.

Some possible explanations would be:

1. They need to remove the tiles which were cut into. (If these are indeed tiles, I think they might be as they look different from concrete scultped to look like tiles, and the chipping pattern is similar to how real tiles chip on the corner when you try to remove them, also one of these tiles on the top row looks like it is maligned).

*edit* . . . after looking at the new photo, the "enlargement" looks like a perfect rectangle, i.e. they are just remove tiles, likely the one with jagged edges from the cutting that was done to move the widows. Oh well.

2. They are going to add a window or even a balcony. (Maybe the waterproofing is temporary??)

Which island in the 7 Sea Lagoon were they cutting down trees? just wondering if it's near the old Venetian resort site where the eye line balloons were seen recently

I just noticed they added the gold flag pole to the top of the blue "Big Top Souvenirs" tent

I was their saturday and they are behind it. They almost look like the frame for the facade buildings that will face the Little Mermaid and be on the back of the SDMT mountain.
