I am in the process of signing the paperwork for 160 points at AKL. I am still learning all there is to know about DVC. Most trips will be me and my husband with our two boys. We plan on usually getting a 1 bedroom. My question is if I wanted to book a 1 bedroom using my points would I be able to request the attached studio and book it for my mother and have her pay cash. If this is possible are there only certain placed that have 1 bedrooms with attached studios? Also any idea how much it would cost her? Thanks for all your help

As far as I know, you would not be able to book a room for you MIL, unless you use your DVC points to do so. She can book a studio for a night and pay the rack price, but there is no guantee that her room would be able to be attached to yours. Upon checking in, they would try to meet your request, but again it would not be a given that they could do it.

In the 15 years my family has been going to disney and DVC members, we were only able to do what you want to do ONCE and that was back in 1997.
Could it be done? I guess, but be prepared to just have you MIL close by in the same area.

You would have to make a seperate reservation for the studio and there would be no guarantee that the studio would be connected to your one-bedroom.

There might be a DVC discount on the cash reservation, but you would have to call to find out. It usually depends on availability and the time of year.

160 points is not alot of points to use towards a one bedroom, but you may want to borrow points and rent a two-bedroom and have your mother pay you for the studio price.

Just a suggestion.

Most likely that's the easiest thing to do. Find some one renting enough poins so you can get a 2 bedroom. Rent the points in YOUR NAME, and make one single 2 bedroom reservation, then have your mother in law refund you however much it cost you to rent the extra points you needed.
