Annual Pass Question

Ok, I must admit that even as a CM I know very little about annual passes. I'm trying to help my brother plan the most cost effective vacation for between Christmas and New Years and I was looking into maybe buying 1 annual pass for the discounts. My question is, what's the difference between the child's and the adult's annual pass in the area of AP holder discounts?? Are they any different?? I ask because my nieces and nephew will be there and need to get into the park and since the children's pass is much cheaper I wondered if there was a difference.

Thanks for your help!

You need an Adult AP to get the hotel room discounts (which probably will be non-existent between Christmas and New Years anyway)

I'd presume that shopping discounts would be the same.

I do believe that you also need the adult AP if you want to purchase TiW. As Rob said, I don't see there being many discounts for that time period. And if they do the 20% w/coupon at the big stores before lunchtime again, that discount will be better on merch than the one offered with the normal annual pass, and will match the one for the PAP. I would suggest booking the room now, using AAA discount if they are eligible, and then waiting to see if an AP discount is even released for that time period. A GP discount may end up being almost as good, and may end up being cheaper than buying the AP unless they plan on making a return trip.

For the week between Christmas and New Years, there are almost never GP discounts, and AAA is probably just as unlikely.

People start booking Christmas week well over a year ahead.

We've bought a single AP just for discounts in the past and it worked well for trips in either the spring or fall... The one time we used it for a december trip it only got us a discount on the days out before chrsitmas day... as I recall the prices went up substantially the weekend right before Christmas and didn't go do until after new years.

So don't expect it to do anything if their trip is between Chrstimas and New Years.

If they can get there the week before Christmas it might be of some value... but the other bad thing is that AP discounts for that time frame will not be posted until sometime in the Fall.
