I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but I'll try to cover the bases:

If you want AP discounts on resort rooms, your wife should get an AP then both her trips would be eligible for AP discounts.

If you want DDP as an AP holder, it can be purchased but only for everybody in the same room.

The Tables in Wonderland card is a much better deal than DDP with more flexibility. IMO the only advantage to the DDP is pre-paying for your dining so you don't have to worry about bills after your trip, but it really doesn't save you money unless you order the most expensive entrees all the time instead of ordering want you actually want.

Depending on how long the two trips are, the potential savings from AP discounts can easily pay for the AP that qualifies you for them.

I don't fully follow either. It sounds like you have two trips, Dec and July. Dec is both of you, and July is just your wife. As such, it makes sense for her to get an AP, but not you.

You want to do DDP on your December trip. AP's are allowed to pay for DDP without buying tickets, I don't think they require proof for each person in the room , but haven't tried it so cannot confirm.

However, I must agree with Monty in that TiW is a better deal, especially if your wife will be doing TS meals on her trip. Sometimes with free dining its a wash, but since you are paying for dining, unless you are only going for the CS plan, TiW will most likely make more sense.

Keep in mind too that if you are on the Free Dining Plan, no other discounts apply. So the AP discount goes right out the window.

Sorry for the confusion. What I'm asking is if my wife is using her ap, can we still get the ddp in dec if we choose? I will be using a myw ticket for December. I thought the rules for the ddp says that everybody must be on the same package. I really like using the ddp because of the simplicity and we usually get our moneys worth. I'm not opposed to tiw but I just prefer the other.

You can get the DDP but you will need to purchase your tickets separately from your room. What you will do is book the the room as an AP holder with the dining plan. Your reservation will become a package and subject to all the terms and policies of a package ($200 deposit, paid off 45 days out, 45 day cancellation policy, etc) When you arrive your wife will use her AP to get into the parks you will need to buy a ticket at the parks.
