Annual pass question about kids

Not to sound redundant but we will be going several times before and after he turns three. How will they know?

They ask, you answer. If your 3yo is 90 lbs and 4 feet tall they may ask you to provide a birth certificate, but if they are close to normal size they should go off your answer. How you answer is up to you, but remember, you are setting a precedence for your child. It may not seem like much, but seeing you provide a misleading answer about their age does stick in the back of their mind. Also, what happens if a CM asks you, and you say they are 2 1/2, and then that same CM asks your child and they say 3 1/2? Children, especially at that age tend to be truthful, as well as proud to share their age.

Unless something has changed recently, they will not ask you to provide a birth certificate. They will simply ask you how old the child is. Even if excessively large they won't say anything, or at least they aren't supposed to. As I said, I am going off what former cast members of just a few years ago have told me. A friend of mine took his son for his third birthday a few months back and said he was "turning 3 in a few weeks." The kid is bigger than the average three year old but not excessively large either. Of course that doesn't mean you won't create an uncomfortable situation when the cast member is looking at you like your insulting their intelligence because your alleged 2 1/2 year old old looks like a 5 year old. They also don't ask the child, but it doesn't mean he won't shout it out if he knows what's going on. How you proceed is your choice.

I just came home from Disney with my son who turned 2 last month. He is big for his age, but never really had a problem. Several times though cast members would say something like, "He's so cute, how old is he?"
I would just buy the AP when he reaches 3 and not before.

Also, Disney does track you longitudinally. For example, my boys have been on MDE since thEy were 7 months old, so certainly once 3 years have passed since then, I would not be at all surprised if the message came up saying "must provide park admission ticket" for things like FP+. That said, we plan to get the boys passes when they actually turn 3.

Please note, when you do get an AP for your child, you will end up with different renewal dates. You child's will be his/her birthday.
