Annual Pass Quandary

I'll be visiting the WDW resort at the end of October with my sister and in the Spring with my folks. My quandary is this: should I get an AP now or wait to upgrade a regular 7 day hopper pass? If I get an AP now, I can save the regular pass for the Spring trip for one of the rents.

I believe if I get the AP, I'll be given a voucher which, I've read, I can use to make FP+ selections. Hopefully that is still true.

Is there any benefit to doing one over the other? Thoughts?

Either way, if you buy a AP now or upgrade your 7day hopper pass on your October trip...the start date will be on your first day in the parks on that trip.

Just because you buy an AP prior to the trip, it isn't until you turn in your voucher or use the pass on Day 1 that it becomes active.

OK, great, so I can use the voucher to book FP+ later this month, then exchange it for the AP when I arrive in WDW in October.

Thanks!
