Annual Pass - Effective Date

I'm considering purchasing an Annual Pass to Disney World through Disney online. I'm trying to figure out what is the "effective" start date for the annual pass. I've read several things online stating that the effective date is from the date of purchase. I also chatted with a representatve on the Disney site yesterday and they told me the effective date didn't start until first use, and expired a year from the date of first use. I want to buy the pass early, so that I can make my 60-day Fast Pass Plus reservations, but hoping that the annual pass effective date is from the day of first use. Can anyone confirm how the dates for an annual pass work?

Idk about the date for ap, I'm pretty sure what the cm told you is correct. Having said that, the only people who get 60 days to reserve fastpasses are people staying on site, and that happens regardless of what kind of ticket or pass you buy. As long is the admission is linked to your MDE account, it will work as a ticket for booking FP's. Everyone who has a ticket or ap but is not staying on site can book FP's at 30 days out.

As a long-time annual passholder, I can confirm that the start date for a NEW annual pass is the first day you use it to enter a park. If you RENEW an annual pass, your start date remains the same as your first original purchase date.

If you will be staying at a Disney resort you can access FP+ at 60 days using the voucher you will be sent when you purchase your AP.

Thank you for the information; this helps out a bunch for making my decision. We've already made our resort reservations, so we'll get the 60 days for FP+.

Good deal :) there's just so many people out there who don't have all the information and then make wrong assumptions about which dates apply to what. I didn't know if you were staying on site or not and didn't want there to be disappointment if you were staying off site and only had a 30 day window. :)
