Annual Pass Benefits/Discounts

My best friend and I are possibly planning our second trip (together) to Disney/Universal at the beginning/middle of November. When we went last year we spent one day at Universal and it wasn't nearly enough (we are HP fans and literally did three rides outside of the WWoHP). This time we are looking at spending two days - one being our arrival day, when we should be at the parks by noon, and maybe the morning of a third day, before we transition to Disney.

After looking at the price of park-to-park tickets for 2/3 days, it's just a little bit more ($40) to get an annual pass. (I'm looking at the cheapest pass as I don't need to worry about the black-out dates). I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what the (potential) hotel discounts for Cabana Bay might look like. Also, are there any additional discounts/benefits that might make the annual pass even more appealing?

Thanks in advance!

Annual pass discounts are available usually three or four months in advance. You can pretend to book a room, but enter "aph" into the promotion box to see what the price would be. November might be up by now. When we go this summer, they don't have discounts where we want, so don't count on it. Also, only one of you needs the annual pass for the hotel discounts.

We too have a power pass. Not much more than the hotel discount that I find useful. But last visit the hotel discount paid for the difference between a 2 day pass and the annual pass and then some.

Unfortunately, the discounts for the fall don't appear to be out yet (I tried random dates in September and October as well as the dates we're looking at in November). I'm hoping that we can score some sort of hotel discount to make up some of the difference (is it asking too much to think I might get all of the difference?).

I might also do a quick "Universal only" trip in the fall of 2016, but that would be a bonus, not the primary reason for getting the pass.

We got the whole difference in the discount and more. But results may vary.

I was pretty sure discounts were out through October actually. Perhaps the times you are looking aren't available. I had a webs age somewhere which said how far discounts were out...

I did a little more searching last night and finally found a discount example in September. It was only $5 per night, but it's better than nothing. I couldn't come up with anything for November, but will keep checking. We're still trying to nail down specific dates, but it's nice to know that they do exist.

It appears that you don't get the food/merchandise discounts with the power pass. Is that correct?

My wife and I have been Premier Annual Passholders with Disney since their inception and picked up a Universal pass for the first time last November. The room discounts are fantastic when they are available at Uni. They typically come online about 3 months out; but, you need to keep checking back. We are arriving in Orlando this Friday and they didn't have any discounts available for any of the summer season until last week. We scored a Portofino room for $230, which we think is a big win over what we had scheduled at Royal Pacific at $300.

Universal's discounts on food and merch also are better than their competitor down I-4.

Being a passholder at WDW doesn't help that much these days. You need to go to Anaheim to feel appreciated.

IDK where you're staying, but we stay at HRH- if there's not a discounted rate on the UOR site, I book through Loew's and get reward points. We also use the Hard Rock Rewards program- I have $30 of Hard rock cash burning a hole in my pocket! LOL!

Does anyone know if the annual pass discounts for November (8-10 to be exact) have been released yet? I'm not seeing them, but it's impossible to tell whether they aren't available or just aren't available YET. Thanks!

nope- soon though :) If I start getting nervous, I will book a room, so I know I have what I want. When the discounts DO come out, I call and they apply it to the reservation.

Thanks for the update! I do have a room and it is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than what I'm paying for the Disney half of the trip even without the APH discount, but I was just curious.

Thanks for the information! I just looked and the discount is $25 per night. Now I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get a pass. Plus I noticed that if I get one pass, we can get 10% off my friend's admission ticket (an additional $20 saving). The annual pass definitely seems like a winner even if I don't get back to Florida within the year (which I hope to).

Book now. You can book without a pass. You just need it when you check in.

Also, undercover tourist tickets might still be cheaper than 10% off gate price.
