Anniversary recommendations

Hi. First post here.

With this year being our 20th Anniversary, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of something different and memorable that I could set up. First let me say that we can't go this year, but we are planning to go sometime in mid 2014 after our daughter graduates HS. It will be a combo trip to celebrate both events.
Now, in the past when we have visited WDW, we mostly have just done short trips around 3 days or so. We go full-on park rides and food (mostly counter service) from the time the park opens and hope to make it all day until closing (although that's getting harder to do). This next trip I'd like to add on some more days, slow things down a bit and enjoy other things, but I'm not quite sure what to do to make it special.

I've got lots of suggestions, depending on how much you want to spend. I will try to give a rough idea of cost through using $$$$. Signature dining is a good suggestion ($$$). I always wanted to try the Wishes Dessert Party ($). The spread always looks go good as we go trodding by with the crowd. If your family likes fishing and doesn't mind getting up early, I recommend doing a fishing charter from the Yacht/Beach Club ($$$$). They took the boat into the World Showcase Lagoon before the park opened. That was a pretty neat experience getting to watch the employees get set up for the day. This year we are going to try the Wishes Fireworks Cruise, so I won't be able to report on how awesome that is until Sept ($$$). I also recommend watching both the Electric Water Pageant and the Wishes fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian (free!). In general, if you are going to be there for a longer period of time, take some time to enjoy the pool and the resorts. We always go on a monorail shopping loop and hit up all of the resorts around the MK. There are so many cool details that can go unnoticed if you are in a hurry. I hope you enjoy your trip!

We have done this once before (Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian). Will want to do something different this time.

Never heard of this. Will have to research on this as Wishes is always a must-do for us.

This would be a no-go for my fam.

Sounds interesting. Never heard of this one either.

Thanks for the ideas! ;)

I think by signature dining he met signature... like very adult, no character dining. Something like California Grill, Artist Point, Narcoossees, or etc. Excellent food, relaxing atmospheres, and many are very romantic.

What about one of the tours they offer? We really enjoyed Keys to the Kingdom when we took that and we're thinking of maybe trying Behind the Seeds this year. You could pair this up with a park and restaurant and a nighttime show (La Nouba or something over at the Boardwalk) and get a day out of it.

A most magical welcome to you. If you are doing a dinner with the whole family I would suggest BOG. We just did it for my ds's birthday dinner and it was fantastic and the prices were quite reasonable. It was his first "grown up" (no characters) meal. You can go over and meet Beast after dinner, but he's not part of the meal. For a romantic couple's meal suggest dinner at any restaurant in EPCOT where you could watch Illuminations.

Oh yeah. Sorry, I thought he meant "character dining".

I don't think we'll want to get too fancy as our daughter will be with us and this will be looked at as a "combo" trip to celebrate her graduating HS and us celebrating 20 years (albeit a year later).

If not too fancy is in your plans then definitely try and get an ADR at BOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are not too fancy, affordable and know how to celebrate a special event! I can't say enough about that place:)

Thanks.
I think that would be a great idea! We have not yet seen the expansion at MK and this would be a great idea for celebrating. I'll have to do some research on it. Thanks again! :)
You are quite welcome! One thing you must book it as part of your 180+ 10 ADRs it is extremely hard to get into. It is also the only place in MK to have a glass of wine or beer if you're so inclined.

Honestly, signature dining around Disney isn't too fancy with the exception of Victoria & Albert's (a restaurant in the Grand Floridian.) But the food is excellent! California Grill is very nice, laid back, and over looks the magic Kingdom. You can watch the fireworks from your table or out on the balcony.

You could also look into something like the spirit of aloha dinner show at Poly.
