Anniversary advice please.............

My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary on Febuary 25th. We are annual passholders, and I wanted to book one or two nights at a deluxe resort for the occasion. Since it will be a bit chilly (maybe) the beach is not really that important to us. We would like a romantic atmosphere, but we are pretty plain and simple folk, who will most likly be doing the parks the whole time. We will be living in Orlando by then (we move in Oct), so we are not even sure what the parks are like that time of year, what the hours are, and what the weather is like. Where would you recommend we stay? Any ideas for dinner?

The Polynesian (NOT POLY) is more expensive. The resort is also more open. The AKL is a more closed it resort which will help add to the warm feeling. But both resorts are great so no matter which you choose you will still have a great time.

2much2do...my husband and I just celebrated our anniversary at WDW 2 weeks ago. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge which was absolutely beautiful. When we checked in, we mentioned it was our 1 year anniv., and they gave us a wonderful, quiet room overlooking the lake. The next day we arrived back to our room to find a delicious food basket with a card saying, "Happy Anniversary Mouseketeers".

I have to admit that we went out to dinner for our actual anniversary night at Emerils in Citywalk (which was excellent if you like his food). But whenever we ate at Disney, we tried to remember to mention it. At the Hoop De Doo, we were subjected to getting up in front of everyone and dancing to "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" - that was a little embarassing, but special!

Good luck in your choice..and Happy Anniversary!:)

The AK lodge was nice when we stayed there but not my favorite. I really enjoyed the Polynesian though. We stayed there in December of 2001. We haven't tried the Wilderness Lodge but I've heard many good things about it.

For dinner reservations, I'd also maybe recommend either Mama Melrose's at Disney/MGM Studios (for Italian) followed by Fantasmic or for scrumptuous steaks, the Concord Steakhouse at the Contemporary Resort and the fireworks at MK afterwards. Or, I've never eaten there but you could always go for the California Grill with a late PS and watch the fireworks from MK while having dinner or dessert!

Sounds like a perfect night to me! We are celebrating 9 years this summer when we're down there (staying OKW though) and have already made our PS for the Concord Steakhouse!

Hope you have a fabulous anniversary trip!

Sorry about that Disney Insider. I posted my question before I read your post on the other thread about how "poly" is not a nice term. I promise never to use it again :) Anyway, I like that the AKL is more indoors. Feb might be cold, right? I really hadn't given much thought to the Wilderness Lodge, but now I am starting to think maybe it will be between that and the AKL. Do you think we will get to see many animals in winter??? Also, (and I know I will get bashed for this next comment) I can't stand the Contemporary! Hate it, frankly. Are there other comparable restaurants where we can get great steak that are NOT in the Contemporary???

I would definitely make dinner reservations at Victoria and Alberts. My hubby and I celebrated one of our anniversary's there and have never again had a meal or service like it anywhere. It is not cheap but in our eyes it was worth every penny. Have fun!

P.S.- We also stayed at the Grand Floridian-very nice!:)

We just celebrated our 15th anniversary at the Polynesian. In fact, that is where we spent our honeymoon too. The resort is beautiful and romantic. The grounds are lush and the volcano pool is fabulous. There is also the beach you can escape to for some quiet time.

We chose a not so fancy restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We ate at Cinderella's Royal Table since we were at the MK that day. The view is fabulous. When we made the PS, we did tell CRO that we were celebrating our anniversary. After dinner, they gave us two beautiful champaign glasses with Cinderella's Royal Table etched in the glass as an anniversary gift.

WOW! Maybe I should cancel my PS at the Concord Steakhouse and reschedule for Cinderella's Castle! DH wants a good hearty steak though...are those on the menu at the Castle or is more just hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken strips, etc.?

Thanks for the menu site. It has been really useful! I can't believe that I didn't know there was a menu site out there! Duh, where have I been? I forwarded it to my DH and I'll let him decide! The steak sound so good!

Have a great day!

Concourse Steakhouse not Concord (Concouse like Grand Canyon Councourse at the Contemporary). Also the Castle has steak...the specialty is Prime Rib. I think that the Concouse Steakhouse will definately be a better place for the Anniversary. Much more romantic, and the food there is much better.
