Animation tour expansion

Awesome!!!!!

Will the tour be getting the nice air conditioned "lobby" that DCA's version has...(the one with the huge screens, showing images and scenes from animated films...along with soundtracks)....if so that would be great...I just love that from DCA's version....

Too bad they had to lay off all those animators and close the Florida studios to do this expansion....:(

This must be why the CM told me a few weeks back that they were going to gut the studio. I reported it a couple weeks ago. I'm glad that they are going to use the space and not let it sit there like some places "cough" (WoL) "cough"

That sounds fun!

It really will be much different, though, when it's purely an attraction rather than a working studio.

Our favorite part is the maquette and concept art display at the end. I'd love to see them expand that into a large museum.

I enjoyed walking thru that especially when a friend from high school worked right against the windows. He told me some funny stories working there.

Anyone know what the tour does now, exactly? Do you actually walk past empty desks? And, if so, what does the tour guide say about it? Does anyone do the "live animator" meet-n-greet any more? :(

The old work area is walled off while the rehab is underway. The live meet and greet is with an "animator" who teaches you how to draw a character, which you can then take home with you.

Well, I guess the closing of the animation studio has one positive. I've never been to DCA, but I'm sure these new additions will make the animation tour much more enjoyable.:)

I am not familiar with the California tour... can someone enlighten as to what exactly will be added in Florida?
What is the Sorcerer's Workshop?

Can't help but be amused that AFTER the animators leave, the tour is expanded. I'm sorry, but it just seems to totally miss the point -- it's no longer an animation studio!

Sorceror's workshop is awesome. It consists of three rooms. In the first there are interactive drawing tables and displays that teach you how to draw a character. In the second, there is the beasts library with kiosks that allow you to discover which Disney Character you are most like. The final room is ursula's cave, you can record your voice over a disney cartoon.

I refuse to go on the animation tour again. It was just too depressing. I love 2d animation. I respect the art that animators create. I really hate what Eisner has done. Maggie
