Animation Ave. at DCA

After Avatar goes into the Hollywood Backlot, what's left of Hollywood Land could use a make-over to give it a Disney-specific theme. The park could also use two other things: more ties to classic Disney IP to provide heart and nostalgia, and more themes and areas that are kid-friendly (especially with the loss of A Bug's Land).

To achieve all that, Hollywood Blvd. could be renamed and rethemed as Disney's Animation Ave. -- borrowing some inspiration from Shanghai Disneyland's Mickey Ave. and the upcoming Walt Disney Studios revamp of Animation Courtyard/Star Wars Launch Bay.

This theme supports and brings together exiting attractions such as the Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live, Disney PhilharMagic, Animation Academy, and even the retail store Off the Page, but instead of locating these animation-centric offerings a generic "old Hollywood" context --this area would be made more specific to the legacy of Disney animation.

Playfulness, color, fantasy, and references to animation (giant jars of paint, brushes...) would be brought to the building exteriors and even out onto the streets.

Eateries with generic Hollywood inspiration (Award Weiners, Schmoozies, and Fairfax Market) would be given Disney Animation-focused rethemes.

The Hyperion -- which is now depicted on the facade as a generic theater -- would be given a new facade based on Disney's actual historic Hyperion Studio (where Snow White was made), a yet-uncelebrated company landmark as far as animation. The fake sky backdrop would get modified with a dramatic 3D "page curl" at the top corner to sell this as less a budget-conscious cheapening-out and more as an intentional nod to animated backgrounds.
