Hello! :) this is our first time going to Disney for the whole family! Im so excited! Anyways I made reservation for lunch 2:30 at Trex in downtown disney we are doing animal kingdom that day and was wondering how about getting to downtown from there. Should we go back to the resort and take a bus or do they have a bus from animal kingdom to downtown?

I think the only way to do that would be to go back to your resort and take a bus from there. I believe they used to have buses to and from the parks, but then people would abuse that and park for free at Downtown Disney. Or you could also take a taxi from AK if you're really in a rush

How much time does it usually take to get from place to place if we were to take the bus?

From my experience, it would take about 15 to 20 min just for the bus to arrive, then another 15 min to go from AK to DTD. There are other variables, though, like how many people are in front of you at the station, how messed up is their bus schedule at the moment, can you stand up or sit. Also, they might add another stop to go to before going to DTD. I think they combine Blizzard Beach with AK? Maybe someone else can correct me in that?

Another option is Animal Kingdom to Port Orleans, Port Orleans to DTD via boat or bus. If you take the bus from Port Orleans, it's faster than the boat.

Oh I love that little boat ride from Port Orleans! It's so much more relaxing than waiting for the bus, and it's a nicer way to enter DTD with all od the nice scenery. But, yeah like you said, it takes longer than the bus.

Just remember, if you decide to drive, they are still constructing a lot of stuff for the DTD to Disney Springs makeover, so you might run into a bit of a hassle trying to find a place to park. Plus, you're going around lunchtime, so i don't know if there's some kind of lunch rush hour for parking over there.

Aw, im sorry if we're stressing you out. I know how it feels to have to plan out erything like that for multiple people, and we just want you to not be surprised about anything. But dont worry! The buses will get you to where you need to go. The key is to just give yourself like 1 hour to 1.5 hours for travel time to get out of the park, wait for transport, and then travel there.

I did think about that but i read some were that the food at trex is better...if thats not the case i can still cbange it

Don't change it, they were designed by the same guy, and I haven't eaten at a Rainforest Cafe in a long time, but TRex is a fun experience at least once... I just got back and around lunch using the parking Garage is great parking isn't a huge hassle. Plan enough walking time too sense the garage is on the other side of Downtown Disney. So I would drive and plan 60 minutes, they let you check in early and there is plenty to do at DTD if you get there too early. And I mean 60 minutes from when you get in your car, not 60 minutes from the back of Animal Kingdom lol... Don't get over whelmed just have fun!! And remember giving yourself extra time is better than being late!!

You really need to allow 1 1/2 hours to get to an ADR where you are using Disney transportation, and having to take 2 different methods of transport, whether 2 buses, bus/boat, bus/monorail, etc. It is much better to be 30 minutes early. Oh and right now, it would be a lot less stressful if you take a bus from AK to either POR or POFQ, and the boat from there. With all of the construction going on the roads around DS, a bus can take forever to get there.
