Animal Kingdom to Contemporary

I have not been to Disney in years so trying to learn all that I can.

We managed to secure fastpass+ for Avatar. It says to arrive between 5:50 and 6:50. If we arrive at 5:50, how long could we expect to wait. What is the earliest dinner reservation we should make at the Contemporary? I'm not sure what is involved once you arrive to your destination for a fastpass ride. Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Make your dinner reservation as late as possible. If you finish up at Animal Kingdom and get to the Contemporary early, check in anyways and they'll probably be able to seat you within 15 to 20 minutes. I wouldn't book anything before 8:00 at the earliest. Animal Kingdom is the far southwest corner of property and the Contemporary is the far northeast corner of property. There really aren't two start and end points that are further apart in all of WDW.

My advice would be to change dinner to either Boma, Jiko, Sanaa, or Tiffin's.

Thank you for the info. We have such a short trip planned and were hoping to get to the Contemporary for the Fireworks. In your experience if we arrived at the early end of our FP time, could we potentially still wait a while before we got on the ride? I'm not familiar with how the time range works.

Flight of Passage has an erratic loading pattern and a bit of a pre-show, even in the FP+ line. There are a small number of very large show boxes (theaters, basically), so it loads in huge chunks on and off rather than a steady stream going constantly. I'd budget 30 minutes at least, but I personally wouldn't go in too confident with that number.

Are you staying at the Contemporary or is the only reason you're going for fireworks? If the latter, you're better off just park hopping to the Magic Kingdom. The buses will be much more reliable and Happily Ever After really needs to be seen with a view of the front of the castle to appreciate it. The view from the Contemporary is neat, but doesn't do the show justice.
