Do you have to have a ticket for animal kingdom to eat at the rainforest cafe? or is it right outside the park? I'm sorry if that's a stupid question..

As PP said, you don't! There is an entrance before the park gates, and they also have an "in park" entrance on the other side of the park gate, so if you want to leave the park and go to the restaurant, you very easily can!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Also the one in Disney Springs you can go to that is not at a park at all and is a lot bigger and has the volcano etc. If your not already going to be at AK then the larger one at Disney Springs is also an option. We don't usually eat at Rainforest being they have one not far from us at home but if I picked one it would be the one at Disney Springs. :)

Thanks y'all! I feel so stupid asking such simple questions, but I do appreciate your help :) Is the one at disney springs busy on a Friday night? I see there's a 8pm reservation for the night we'll get there, but I'm not sure if we'll be there by 8, we're driving 6 1/2 hours with 3 kids so I'm not sure how many stops we will have to make LOL We were trying to the t-rex restaurant any night we are there, but they are booked EVERY night we are in town until 9:30 pm and that's just too late for us.

Don't feel stupid! It's an important question to ask.

I would think that the one at Disney Springs would be busier than AK, considering AK will technically be 'closed' by 5 or so in September (until further notice), meaning most people will clear out of the parks/general area by then. Disney Springs on the otherhand, is usually busy at night, and would especially be, on a Friday.

I've been to both and on the inside, they are very much the same. Wouldn't go out of the way just to hit the Disney Springs one if AK time/location works best for you. :)

No problem! And perfect! We've dined there after finishing our AK day it was great to just walk out of the park and already be there. It's a lively atmosphere for sure.

And as for trying to get a T-Rex reservation, keep checking back especially closer to your dates...someone's bound to cancel.

Did you call T-Rex? I was advised here to call them as they do not release all of the openings to Disney. On the WDW site i could only get 4:30 or 8:30PM on a friday night (nothing in between). I called and got the 6PM reservation time I wanted. (It just wont show up in your MDE as an ADR. (I added it in mine as a note)

No problem... Other great thing is that when I called and made my reservation they did not take a CC # so if you make a res. for 8 and end up not making it, then you wont get charged. Not sure why they wouldnt taken CC#'s though. But I am sure they will easily fill in the spot if there are no shows with walk-ins...

We always have a nice lunch at the one in AK. The nice thing is that they will also ship your purchases to your resort.
We don't like to trek all the way over to Disney Springs since we just want to soak up as much magic as possible inside the parks, so I can't comment on the one there - but - we did dine once in T-Rex for my son. Keep trying! We all do whatever we can to make the experience special for our kids. Good luck!
