Animal Kingdom Lodge

AK Lodge is great! The savannahs are great for animal viewing. At night, you can use night vision binoculars to watch the animals from the main viewing area behind the Lodge.

The Boma evening buffet is a Disney dining experience not to be missed if you're at all adventuresome with your dining preferences! Squeeze that in "somewhere" during your stay.

The Lodge's general atmosphere is very relaxing following a hectic day in the parks.

Whether it's "Worth it" will be for you to decide following your stay. I've stayed there several times and will gladly do it again.

It's my favorite resort, and probobly one of the best themed ones on property. The savanna is very cool, and even if you don't get a savanna view room, there are NUMEROUS areas to view the savanna. I have to agree that Boma is a must see. Breakfast or Dinner both are very good. The juice they have at breakfast is amazing. The pool area is very calm and tranquil. All in all, the resort is beautiful and very serene. It's a great resort to stay at, and even better to come back to from the parks. :sohappy: :sohappy:

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite Disney Resort. To walk into that lobby at night after returning from the parks is breathtaking. The dim lighting of the halls flows so well with the theme of this resort. There are so many small "treasures" hidden throughout this resort. I rate it A+! :animwink:

I agree with others. It's the most wonderful, relaxing, best-themed resort on property. And Boma is the best restaurant on property. I've never stayed there without a savanah view so I can't comment on that. The only downside to the AKL is transportation. You're not on a monorail. You can't even walk to a park. But for me, this makes you feel even more like you've been transported to somewhere else. It really just depends on what you're into.

even to stay there one night (as my family did) was magical enough. it is breathtaking as the sun is beginning to rise in the morning, and you watch as animals begin their day. at times, I realized I was in disney, and not in africa. The decor, and the major art pieces will keep you busy for a bit, and they encourage you to go and look around the hotel and check out all there is. THe pool is really nice, with a 'zero' entry, and a lot of room for people. We also got to watch some feeding time for the giraffes, so tha was pretty cool.

I haven't eaten at Jiko, but Boma is so amazing. Both dinner and breakfast are very good, with the desserts at dinner as my favorite. and despite it being a very large hotel, it seems mostly quiet.

the shopping is very decent too, with some African hand-carved stuff, clothing, etc.

bottom line, you won't be disapointed!
