From reading up on here about AKL's savannah view rooms, it seems like there is more than one type of Savannah view. I was wondering what the pro's and cons are of the different Savannah views.

There is pretty good information at allearsnet. http://allears.net/acc/faq_akl.htm
I have stayed in a savannah room multiple times, great experience every time. If you look at the resort map it will show you where eat savannah is located and the room associated. Make sure you close your curtains when you are not out there, they have cameras monitoring the balconies.

Something to keep in mind...many people get some sort of savanna view without paying for one. Now, I'm not saying you're going to get a prime view over Arusha by going that route, but if you are flexible with the savanna you overlook, you can save some $. Case in point, we paid for a bunk bed pool view room when we stayed there back in September. I was hoping to be upgraded to bunk bed savanna view, but what I wasn't expecting was savannah options being included in my room request options during online check in. So, when filling out my room requests prior to travel, I noted one of the savannas along with other preferences like being close to the lobby. While not Arusha, we had a nice view of Uzima savanna from our room without paying extra for it.

Thanks for the link and the advice. I have been toying with the idea of club level which I guess will put me at Arusha. But on the other hand I may just pick a normal savannah room, haven't made up my mind. The animal I would most like to see is a giraffe (I just think they are really cool looking animals)

If you are super interested in giraffes, you might want to think about the Sunset Savannah. We've stayed on the Sunset Savannah a handful of times, and right around dusk, it seems like the giraffes are there feeding and walking around.

Completely agree with @shipley731! We stayed on Sunset near the feeding pen and there were always 2-3 giraffes visible at any given time. Many zebras too.

That or go aaaaaaaall the way to end of the Kudu Trail and go out on the fire escape at 2 in the morning.
Giraffe city.

It could just be me, but the staff seems to have gotten better about locating numerous feeding stations for the giraffes around the Savannahs, and keeping them stocked with fresh fodder throughout the day, and even at night. That tends to keep them moving about and feeding. I just posted in another AKL thread about our discovery that the giraffes would gather and sleep near the Zebra Trail rooms at around 2 or 3 AM each night. It's an amazing thing to see, as they sleep very little and rarely lie down.
