AN IDEA FOR CHEAPER ADMISSION!

I just read an article online that said Theme parks of 2020 could be more self-servicing, non- stop experiences, darker theming, greener park operations and attraction based food and drink.

Self-Service would be something like the reservation system that airlines and hotels currently use where you make a reservation and pay for it and when you arrive its there waiting for you. The same would be for rides and shows. The article didn't go into detail, but I propose to have the park entry fee at $75 for all parks and just as you would make a Fastpass reservation, you would still reserve it but pay a price for it, thus making up the difference in the cheaper gate entry. Its kinda like an 'open air park' where they do not charge admission, but it costs for whatever you ride.

Do you think an idea like this would work at Disney Parks? I would rather pay for what I ride with an entry fee. What about you? Please no mean comments, this is just a conversation starter!

That's what I thought when I read that article(the reservation fee was my idea:-)) But what about fastpasses for the rides you want to ride WITHOUT a limit (like the 3 they currently have in place)? Say you could pick what rides or shows or meet/greets you want for the day? They could limit the available passes internally by the popularity shouldn't that spread the crowds out more than what they are currently offering(3 passes)? Just asking! Cuz I am treading the time when I have to make my reservations for fastpasses. ( but by then, they will have no doubt rolled out another system that is totally different from Magic+...we aren't going until Dec 2017:-) hehehe!)

Paying for FP is a bad idea IMO, I don't mind the make 3 FP then get more after that, they have to draw the line somewhere. Pay to Win is not a good strategy for a theme park that is meant for all families and being told that for an extra $30 (the difference between your proposed $75 and the current prices roughly) I would get unlimited FP reservations in advance would make it mandatory...

As @Tom said, it didn't work, I would trust that despite all the negativity about how Disney does things on these boards they do tend to know what they are doing and have more information about their business than we do so I trust them to make decisions based off that information :)

I think Disney tries very hard to limit the elitism. If they give VIP treatment to a few stars, execs, and anyone who wants to shoot the kids' college fund to get a personal guide, so be it. None of that bothers the vast majority of the rest of us, but allowing extra fastpasses for a relatively nominal charge that most guests on a budget won't/can't pay, (and thus the rest of us stand in line or miss out on the mine train), that's overtly elitist. And, yes, if premium fastpass upgrades for a small fee were available, the chance of walking on or getting a good fastpass shortly before your trip or that same day just went down.

Disney is wonderful in part because all of us walk on the same pavement, stand in the same lines, and see the same stuff. If we want to eat better, buy pricey souvenirs, or get extra magic hours by staying on property, that's fine. But generally, we're all in this together. No one wants to go to Disney to feel inferior. We've got the whole year at home to feel inferior.

That's such a perfect explanation of how Disney does this part perfectly... The fact that once you get there there aren't rich people or poor people, or republicans or democrats, or pro life or pro choice, we are all just one group of hot sweaty people waiting in line angry at the Happiest place on Earth lol :) Thank you for that :)
