An Apology To The Pin Kid

The wife and I just got back from DLR. I wore my lanyard with all DCA opening day pins. As I'm strolling along I hear,"PINS!" This kid about 10 y.o. comes running up to me wanting to trade. I tried to tell him as best I could that these were all opening day pins and they were older than him and weren't for trade. But, the look on this poor kids face made me feel like such a heel that I bought a couple pins to trade hoping I would run into him again. Lesson learned. Always carry a spare just in case. If your reading this kid, my apologise.

Lots of people wear their special keeper pins on lanyards and dont ever trade them. Both kids and adults as well think if its on my lanyard its able to be traded like those on the CM's lanyards. I used to have to disappoint guests at times too, tactfully saying, sorry I'm not trading those. But now I'll carry about a dozen pins in a small pin wallet that I take out and say... see anything here you like?

I would have left those pins at home and not wear them!

Usually if you are displaying your pins, you are appearing to have them for trade!
