Trip Report An Anniversary/Birthday Trip to Remember, December 2024

We're back!! And there were many memorable things about our trip, some fantastic and some not so great things, but overall a wonderful trip!

Quick overview:
Who: me (Amy) and my husband, Brian
Why: we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and 50th birthdays, just 1 year late!
Where: Caribbean Beach Resort, Jamaica building 42
When: December 6-11, 2024

We had a later flight out of Columbus, so left our house about 3pm and made it in plenty of time for Brian to nap before we had to board!

We were scheduled to depart at 5:45, so got to see the sunset from the ground and the air.

I was unlucky enough to have a young child behind me that kicked my chair the entire 2 hour flight until about 10 minutes before we started our descent. We asked nicely and the flight attendant asked nicely and the mom continued to sleep with her earbuds in, so in addition to the kicking, we got to constantly hear "mom, mom"! Longest two hour flight ever!

I was worried about having to check a bag, but it made it MCO with us and in good condition, so that was a relief! Our driver met us and we were soon on our way and seeing these:

We got our room ready text while on the way. We were booked into a water/pool view 5th sleeper since that was all that available using the Bounceback offer for our dates. I had requested Jamaica and that our water view be of Barefoot Bay and not a pool. I also requested to be near the Skyliner. Yay, all of my requests were granted!!

We quickly made our way to room 4258 to drop our stuff off and go find something to eat. I got a few room pics first!

I love CBR and wanted to stay in Jamaica because we honeymooned in Jamaica 46, but man, these rooms need a refresh!! I do like the space on the bathroom counters better than what was in the refurbed Trinidad rooms we had in June, but otherwise like those rooms so much more! Our room was very clean and the AC worked well, so no complaints there, just wish the rooms were a little brighter!

We made our way over to Old Port Royale to pick up our anniversary pins and our refillable mugs.

The temperature this night was 55, but there was a cold wind, so we froze in our jeans and hoodies as we walked over to OPR!

I love how many decorations there were in the lobby and Centertown Market! I grabbed pics of a few, but we were tired and hungry, so there will be more later!

We were originally planning to order and eat at Banana Cabana, but we decided we just wanted something light and quick so we could get organized and go to bed quickly, so we grabbed Chicken Caesar salads from the grab and go section and headed back to the room.

The salads were great and had a surprisingly large amount of chicken!

Saturday, Dec. 7 Magic Kingdom

We were up early for 7:30am early entry. The weather was a complete rollercoaster ride during our trip. This particular morning was in the mid 40s first thing. I decided to dress in jeans, long sleeve shirt under my t-shirt, tennis shoes, and my sweatshirt jacket. I was still cold initially, but warmed up enough by midday that I was able to take my jacket off for awhile. The high was supposedly high 60s, but it didn't feel like that for long.

We grabbed a quick breakfast when we were at Old Port Royale the night before. I had a chocolate croissant and Brian had donut holes.

Nothing fancy, but it got us out the door quickly. We took a little longer getting ready than we had hoped, but were on our way to the bus soon after eating.

View right outside our room:

We were on the bus at 7:06am and getting our MagicBands scanned for early entry by 7:33am.

Ok, I probably shouldn’t admit it, but hey, why not: I’ve only just now realized the trip was a couple’s trip and not a family trip. When I was seeing posts in the PTR I kept thinking "why isn’t she mentioning the boys?" 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
Yep, Logan has finals this week and lots of projects that were due last week and Owen isn't out of school until the end of this week either. Brian just played hooky from school for a few days!

Absolutely loving the photos from Under the Sea! What a great idea to go on it when no one is there. You've given me so many angles I've missed out on, but will try to catch on Friday!
It was a nice start to the day since I knew it would be crowded later with it being a non-party day. Have so much fun on your trip!!

At this point, it was right after official park opening. We contemplated making a stop here, but decided to keep moving.

Our plan was to head to Frontierland, then use the cut through to Adventureland and hit Jingle Cruise.
